Sadly, the sweet pig in this painting was slaughtered minutes after the photo for this piece was taken- slaughtered for someone's bacon, sandwich, or whatever was deemed more important than the life of this sweet soul. For me, the very LEAST I can do is be vegan, speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, and memorialize them through peaceful, artistic activism.
What’s the greatest deterrent that keeps people from going vegan? Vegans themselves! • How many people have you met who’ve told you that they won’t go vegan “because vegans are such assholes”? When you harass, antagonize and corner people in your advocacy tactics, they do not listen. It’s a known fact that people shut down their ability to learn and receive information when they feel cornered and attacked. It’s also completely natural for people to want to defend themselves when you call them names. • Rather than guilting and harassing people, simply present them with information and allow them to draw their own conclusions. If the facts are on your side, you have nothing to fear! People are naturally curious about new concepts, so if you are welcoming and open, they will come to you. Answer every question with patience and kindness- no question is a stupid question! Lastly, if you are having a discussion with someone who doesn’t agree with your stance, keep it as a discussion, not a debate. Rather than simply trying to “win” by silencing the other person, try to genuinely spark change in their attitude by remaining calm and informative. Try to understand their point of view and argue from a perspective which may appeal to them. Find common ground! If someone doesn’t care about animals, tell them about the environmental, health, or human rights concerns surrounding animal agriculture! • As someone who has been vegan for almost eight years now, I have walked on both sides of animal advocacy and I’ve been the aggressive, angry vegan who makes people hate vegans. Yes, it’s easy to get angry when you learn the truth about how animals are treated in our society, but taking it out on other humans is ineffective. If you are angry about the way animals are being treated, turn your anger into a hunger to inform and educate with kindness and love. Remember that no one is perfect and neither are you. Most importantly, remember that you weren’t always vegan, so you are in no place to judge anyone! Only when we advocate with love and patience and throw away judgement and anger will we ever make a difference for animals.

We need to talk about using others. . We need to talk about how as a species we look at others and too often base their worth on what they can do for us. We need to talk about how we have enslaved animals in numbers beyond comprehension and condemned them to lives in which they are treated as commodities and no more. We need to talk about how animal use is animal abuse. To unnecessarily force your will upon an animal is wrong. To take their one, precious life and to force them to do things to serve your desires is immoral, and selfish, and , for the good of all, it must be stopped. In the world we live in now, we have the capacity to stop robbing animals of their freedom and ultimately their lives - so we must stop.
It's really quite simple. Don't use animals. Don't commodify them. Don't hurt them. Don't kill them. Don't eat them. Don't enslave them. Don't encage them. Don't experiment on them. Don't treat them as anything less that the sentient and beautiful beings that they truly are. We need the abolishment of all forms of exploitation of animals, anything less is a disservice to the animals who suffer unfathomably. The world will one day recognise that the using of sentient beings is immoral. You can help bring about that recognition today. Live vegan. 📸: @forliberation
