Born February 6, 1932. François Truffaut is pictured here hard at work directing his seminal film, THE 400 BLOWS, a classic of the French New Wave. Truffaut expressed his interested in the auteur theory, as well as topics concerning cinematic reality and a rejection of traditional filmic techniques throughout his writings. The 400 Blows would go on to win the coveted Prix de la mise en scène at Cannes in 1959. He died on October 21, 1984.
