A different meaning of “blood money”

Thinking about how the IRL narrative of Umineko is literally just about a suicidal girl and her crippled amnesiac writer brother trying to endure in a world where their shitty grandpa, conservative relatives, criminal parents, and a suicidal trans witch basically changed the course of their lives in an awful way with a single unsolved murder mystery.

Underneath all of that fantasy is just these two enduring the aftermath of a horrific incident.

The Golden Witch is the undeniable titular figure of Umineko's narrative, but that's mainly because she's the scapegoat for problems that began with a shitty old man, continued through the negativity that was implanted in his children (she's one of these children BTW), and ended with mass death. Yet even though the witch's story, the mystery she set up, and the consequences of their family's actions continues to haunt these two in different ways, in the end they manage to endure into the future with new lives and names.

As a result, the siblings find the peace in life that the witch unfortunately only found in death.

I tried my best. I really did. Even with the clout I have, it was not enough. Not even Taylor Swift could fix this. The electorate was just too angry to counteract. Kamala under-performed all demographics and ended up doing worse than Hillary.

It's true that Trump's support collapsed, but it was among loud people who voted for him in 2016 and 2020. They ended up getting replaced by regular ass people. That's why there were less Trump signs and his rallies were smaller. Many people just had pent-up anger and didn't show it off.

I'm so heartbroken at this electorate. These voters voted for a felon, and destroyed everything we worked on for the past 8 years out of frustration and desperation. Now Democrats are literally in the exact same position they were in the early 2010s.

Political Rant Incoming

I’m not usually one to talk about my own personal politics but after today. I cant keep this inside. If you’re looking for something positive, resources to help people, this is not the place. I am angry, I’m feeling hopeless,and I need to let it out in order to be strong again.

If you are not President Biden, then you can skip this if you need to. Or stay, I don’t really care. We need to take care of our mental health to prepare, so make the right choice for yourself.

Not only am I against violence in itself, but I wouldn’t be stupid enough to post my threats to the actual president on a fucking tumblr post. I’m not like the fucking rioters who posted all about them invading the capital like the fucking traitors they are. They can protest that name, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.

Dear President Biden:

You’ve damned us. You’ve damned this country. You made a promise to this country and you betrayed us. Your ego was more important than every single person in this country, every man, woman, genderqueer person, every single one of us. You promised us you would be a one term president. You promised us. We didn’t want you, but we sucked it up for the country because you won the primary for reasons I don’t even know at this point. you appealed to old people, and they’re the most consistent voting block, because they’ve got nothing else to fucking do. So we voted you in in order to save our country. And look what you’ve done to us.

Every trans person’s death that comes from his presidency is on your soul. Every family that dies from poverty, every woman who loses everything or even dies from the lack of abortion services, every Palestinian’s death, they’re going to stain your soul and send you down to Hell, Mr. President. You have damned this country, you have damned the world, and while I don’t believe in Hell, you fucking do and you’re fucking going there. You failed the world, Mr. President. You didn’t give the country a chance. While I liked Kamala Harris’s policies, you forced her onto the country. She needed to run her own race. It is entirely, 100% your fault that we didn’t have an actual primary because you decided to break your promise. We could’ve chosen someone who had a much better shot at winning than the Black, Indian woman. I wanted so badly for her to win, it’s about fucking time that a woman be elected president, but she was never going to convince the moderate republicans just because she’s all three of those things. They do not think women can run the country, and as much as they’re wrong, we needed them to sit out or vote for us. And you didn’t give anyone else the chance to be a better candidate for them. Because as much as we hate it, because of the goddamn electoral college, we need to get the moderates on our side, because the moderates decide elections. The people who don’t pay attention to politics, the people who don’t remember what the last administration was like, they decided the election. And you didn’t give us a chance to win those people older.

You never should’ve ran for a second term. It was your ego, your desire for power that had you thinking you could run again, after you promised you wouldn’t! You’re already the oldest president we’ve ever had, we can see you declining, we could see it for years, and you still fucking ran again! It was your choice and your choice alone. Every harm that is felt during the next administration is going to be entirely on you. I hope you feel every death, every sob of the people who are forced to become homeless, every scream as a child has to carry her rapists baby to term, every soul as despair sets in when they realize they don’t have enough money to live because of the inevitable recession he’s going to cause. Because you are the reason it will happen. There is no one else to blame but you. You stayed far too long in the race, and then to add insult to injury, right at the end, you pulled a fucking “basket of deplorables”. You tripped the country at the finish line, and every hurt that comes from the injuries that our country, that our world endures is on you. You made choice after choice, and you’ve damned us!

I won’t say I hated the Biden administration. Some of what you did was great, some of what you did was really progressive. And it’s all ruined now because he’s going to undo every single thing, just like he did with Obama. Every good thing you did for the country will now be erased and you will have no lasting positive legacy on this country. Your legacy will forever be “he gave us a second trump term.” When history books write about you, they will treat you like Neville Chamberlain. As a failure. As a weakling. Except you’ll also be labeled egoistic and maybe even narcissistic because you refused to put your ego aside and let the democratic voters choose a candidate we wanted.

Since I know you’re Catholic, when you die (which I hope isn’t soon, I could never wish death on anyone truly) you believe you’ll meet God. When he shows you your lasting legacy of pain and devastation and he asks you, “why didn’t you keep your promise to the people of America and step down gracefully? Why did you run again and not give the American people a chance? You knew how dangerous he was, how dangerous his policies would be.” I doubt your answer of “I still wanted to be president.” Will be good enough for him!

PS- And to those of you who voted for Russian plant Jill Stein (seen with fucking Putin, no regular American citizen is ever seen with him!) you did exactly as Russia wanted you to. You did exactly what we said you would. We told you if you voted for Jill Stein, the votes would go to trump, and we were right. Especially those of you who live in swing states. For all of you single issue voters who claimed that you couldn’t vote for Kamala because of Palestine, I hope you can live with what you’ve done because he’s said he wants to wipe Palestine off the map. He wants to put his hotels and golf courses on Palestinian land, and when he starts selling weapons to Israel again, as he said he would!, they’re going to give him the opportunity to do just that. To the Trump voters and supporters rolling their eyes at the people who are scared and angry, I've seen your comments telling people to calm down. "It's not going to be as bad as you think," and "Wait and see what he does. It'll be fine."

I hope you're right.

Usually, I hate being wrong, but this time I desperately want to be proven wrong. Four years from now as we're looking back on his second term, I hope you're giving me a well-deserved, "I told you so."

• I hope I'm wrong that his tariffs and other economic policies will drive up prices and hurt the poor and middle class.

• I hope I'm wrong about him and his followers continuing to demonize and scapegoat transgender people, and the pain and deaths it will cause.

• I hope I'm wrong about the damage his policies will do to the environment and to the future of the planet.

I could go on, but the point is, I would love for all of my fears to be proven groundless. And if that's what happens, I will joyfully tell you that you were right.

I just hope if it turns out you're wrong about some or all of these fears, that you'll have the strength and courage to admit it and to fight back. I hope you won't blindly follow cruelty and hate and greed, just because they're coming from your "side."

I'm afraid you won't. I'm afraid we'll see a lot of harm in the coming years, and I'm afraid you'll double down. I'm afraid you'll push lies and propaganda rather than face hard truths.

In 2016, I was despondent over what might happen.

The reality turned out to be worse than my fears and what experts predicted. People felt embolded to assault those who were different hate crimes and murders rose exponentially. He got more control of the Supreme Court than we even though, causing Roe v Wade to be overturned. Women who could be easily saved by doctors now are left to die on the operating table because laws prevent them from being salvaged while a dead baby sits in their womb.

This will be the same story. Whatever you imagine, it will be worse.

Economists, historians, and political scientists say it will be 40 years before we be able to start building our way out of what's happening. Many of us will never live to see that.

Never have I actually felt hatred towards America, not once in over 40 years. I've been angry, disappointed, frustrated and sad, but today I hate America. I hate the mindblowing stupidity, the lack of education, the elector system, the gerrymandering, the out of control guns, the religious nut jobs, the way you line up to screw yourselves over because you simply can't resist the charm of being addressed by a wannabe dictator. I despise the fact that so many of you fail to realise the consequences of this election and how you can't just leave all the international commitments and deals without fucking things up for everyone involved. I hate the short sight, your lack of decency, your gullibility, self-centrered ignorans and how willingly you're ready to sacrifice the lives of innocent people just because you're incapable of seeing reason. You just elected a criminal, sexual abuser who openly talks about how he wants to dismantle your democracy. He's bragging about committing crimes, cosies up to dictators - who don't respect him one bit, they just see him as a gullible moron - and has shown time and again how he's willing to sacrifice anything to make himself feel powerful. And no, you don't get to tell the rest of the world how your election is none of our business, not when we live in a world where international relations, trades and cooperations are the norm. I hate how so many of you are ready to sacrifice Ukraine, the climate, your own school children, pregnant people etc. because you've made MAGA your identity. You just elected a wannabe dictator like it was a popularity contest in some bad comedy, without giving a single fuck about what it might cost not just you, but the rest of the world. You just elected a man who openly admires dictators and praises those who're on the verge of becoming dictators. What's wrong with you? Are you all so thrilled about the prospect of women dying due to fear of seeking help during a miscarriage? Does it make you happy, knowing that when a country actually ASKS for your help, you turn your backs on them? You are an embarressment for the free world and all I hope now, is for the ramifications to hit those of you who voted for him the hardest - along with those of you who threw the opportunity of voting away because Harris wasn't good enough. You just elected a man who praised Hitler and somehow this has become normal. And for that, at least for a while, I hate every single one of you who made this normal, no matter your reason. Because none of them are good enough for this monstrocity of an election.

This is no longer the United States of America to me. That veil was dropped this election. It's the Divided States of AMAGAKKKA.

The sun came up today.

The sun came up today, and it will come up tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that. The world did not end, even if it feels like it. We are not at the end of history — this is a fight that has been ongoing since the dawn of civilization. It will continue past the extinction of humans and into whatever species inherits the earth after us, over and over, until our sun dies and our planet becomes cold and quiet.

And maybe, even then, it will continue.

Feel your emotions. Know them, understand them, embrace them. Then turn them into action. Find somewhere — anywhere — to volunteer. Talk to your neighbors. Attend your council and school board meetings. VOTE, in ever election, in every race, no matter what.

Tend to your wounds, then get back into the fight.

It's not over until you're dead. I've got at least another good 50 years in me, and that's how long I plan to keep fighting.

How the actual fuck can people sit there and be proud of the man they've elected? The very first convicted felon as president (and rapist) who plans to strip the rights of countless people? The man who quotes Hitler, and bumbles through debates so embarrassingly that he won't do a debate again? The man who wants to abolish abortion rights, keep women in their homes and force them to marry / bear children, and outlaw same sex marriage (which will most likely stem to the rest of the LGBTQ+ community)? The man who insults more than half the population, wants to further separate people by race, cheat elections that assholes are stroking themselves over "winning", and turn our government into a feet-kissing dictatorship where he is king of everyone and everything?

I literally am appaled at how this wasn't a LANDSLIDE in Kamala's favor. For everyone that voted for him knowing what he plans to do, don't start bitching if he comes for your rights too.

I am sad and angry, but above all else, I am sorry. I am so sorry for everyone like me who will suffer and everyone who isn’t like me and will still suffer. I’m sorry we have to go through all of this again, I’m sorry that enough people decided our lives and rights were unimportant.

But also know that this is not the end. He and his cult won a battle. They will not win the war. We won’t let them. We will outlive that decrepit old cesspit of a man and we will be free of his influence. Is it going to be difficult as all hell? Yes. Am I terrified of the future? Also yes. But we’re still alive and as long as we’re alive, we can fight and we can win.

Please, stay safe and stay alive. You are all so very important and you are loved. Don’t forget that. You are loved.

Maybe this isn't very Tumblr-leftist of me to say, but I was really proud to vote for Kamala Harris. She's obviously not perfect and there's plenty of things I disagree with her on, but compared to Trump and even compared to Biden, she would have been so much better for us. She actually cares about the people in this country and has shown that she is willing to work with us on issues we don't agree on. But silly me for thinking a woman of color could ever be elected president

The fact that half of the entire country got fooled AGAIN by the most blatant obvious liar I’ve ever seen in my life is wild. But I guess they’ve said it all along. All these moral flaws, all of the lies and evil, that’s what they like. That’s not a problem for them. So all the well-meaning people trying to warn against this evil man by saying “hey look! don’t you know this guy said or did this bad thing” that was useless. They like the fact that he’s bad because deep down they want to feel justified and validated in their own evil.

I cannot stress enough that now is not the time to despair. Now is the time to ACT. Locate and create mutual aid networks in your community. Volunteer at soup kitchens and food distribution networks and if they don't exist, find a way to make one yourself. Community care and support is how we survive. Build your village up and support others. You CANNOT survive all on your own. Do not let yourself become an island. Care for others, especially the vulnerable people in your lives. Grassroots initiatives are how we can build support networks BEFORE the changes come.
