So I just realised.

The Doctor lost Rose to a parallel universe after she saved the Earth from the battle of canary wharf.

Romana lost Irving Braxiatel to a parellel universe after he saved his friends from his alternative brother who was the Lord Burner.

These Lungbarrow brothers sure do go through a lot to save the people they care about with parellel universes.
