ADRIC: I remember said something like, "Oh, good, rain," and the Doctor grinned and said, "Oh, good, rain." Then, with a loud "Ha!" he jumped into a puddle, splashing water everywhere. Romana gave him a loud sigh, but... [slight laugh] I could see that her eyes were smiling. It was the last time I saw that look in her eyes.

ADRIC: Romana gave the Doctor a kiss on the cheek, and took his hand as they stepped inside. I watched them through the glass. They smiled at me, but I could see the fear in their eyes.

Rewatching the Key to Time series and Romana just played the Doctor Like. A. Fiddle. within less than 5 minutes of meeting him. I love her more than life itself.

every companion has that “this person has issues I’m not prepared to unpack” moment with the Doctor eventually, but nothing will ever be funnier than Romana (an actually competent time lord) installing an outlet in the TARDIS console under the assumption that he’ll simply use it without remark as any normal pilot would, instead of, you know, this.
