‘We wanted to find a style that feels different than the way you see most women fighting in film, in general. I would say that she fights like a boy, except that diminishes the fact that she just fights like a really, really strong woman. We talk so much in Hollywood about representation of women, and we need really strong, stand-out parts for women. But we also need women that are in conflict and are not so great!’ ~ Tessa Thompson, discussing her character in the Thor: Ragnarok ‘Unstoppable Women’ Featurette.

Tom on his co-stars: ‘The Valkyrie were Amazonian. They were invincible. They were a truly extraordinary being. Tessa’s thrown herself at this in the most extraordinary way, just incredible commitment to the physicality of the part. In this film and in more Marvel films, we’re starting to see women in these big heroic parts. It’s inspiring for everybody, especially for kids.’

Quick update: *coughs* Having just watched it again, Thor’s words to Loki in the garage are actually along the lines of “which one did she tell you to get…”
So, erm… yeah!
Maybe Loki was still playing with Thor and wanted to send him on his merry way through the anus - dear God, that’s a sentence I never expected to be using! - so just pointed him in the direction of the most outlandish and inadequately equipped ship for an escape (knowing he wasn't actually intending to let him escape) which of course is a distinct possibility (and one I am more than happy to go along with by the way, if only for the fireworks and birthday anthem…)
But, maybe, just maybe Valkyrie knew exactly what the Commodore was used for and just didn’t give a flying fuck anyway… Either way she’s certainly not surprised and that just makes her even more of a badass!
If not, it needs to be one. Like yesterday.
