Wow! A year ago today I was somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean, en route to meet @deathbyukmen and @tomkurbikston for the very first time in person!
I still can’t believe we did that! It’s one of those things that sounds sketchy as hell on paper, right? Three strangers from the internet, meeting up in person (especially when two of them have flown thousands of miles alone). And we all had family members thinking exactly the same thing (some even warning their workmates to call the police if they’re never seen again! *ahem* ;D).
But here’s the thing. We weren’t really strangers. Sure, we might never have met one another face-to-face before. We might never have even heard each other’s voices. But we were bound by our shared values, and of course, our mutual admiration of a certain actor…
So it was the strangest thing (at least, speaking for myself) when I got off that plane at O’Hare. I couldn’t wipe the stupid grin off my face as I collected my luggage. And I probably looked like a beaming Cheshire Cat as I finally met two of the most wonderful friends I have.
We had such adventures during our stay, meeting other ‘pocket’ friends, and it is a trip that I will never forget. Sharing our first truly face-to-face encounters with Tom remains one of my most treasured memories.
(Erm, let’s not talk about my idiot brain at the Friday photo op!)
So, to our lovely host and her amazing family, thanks once again for making our stay SO wonderful and welcoming in your home. Here’s to many, many more adventures together! <3
I can not believe that it has been a year!
I still remember walking into the airport and seeing a smiling Cheshire Cat smiling the same big smile as the one on my face! Then hugging it out like we knew each other all our life.
Waiting for @tomkurbikston to walk through the arrival gate, and repeating what just happened.
There were so many wonderful memories from that week! And best was proving to the hubby that you were not Axe murders🤪!
Life long friends were made!
