What mistake we’ve been making is, just because we are in a fake bubble wherever we play or our safe world, that’s not the reality of the whole world. What’s really been hard for me going to training is just knowing that, yes, I feel so safe going to training, but the world around me is falling apart. I just feel like it’s so hard — people go to work and everything is great, but that’s not the reality of the world. The biggest mistake we can make is just falling into this monotonous routine of everything’s good, everything’s good. The world isn’t good. And I’ve known that for a long time, obviously, but that’s just me, that’s just people who look like me, who are of the black community — I feel like we’ve known for a long time.
