One of the most interesting discussions I've seen about 1x07 of The Acolyte has been centered around the moment where Sol is using the force to hold both girls up and try to seemingly save both of them -- He, of course, doesn't seem able to save them both and opts to save Osha... But I've seen some people suggest in that moment that he isn't trying to save them both but rather trying to determine which of the twins is Osha so that he can make sure to save her. Mae being presumed dead, after Sol prioritizes Osha, comes into play even more when the Jedi are leaving Brendok with Osha and Indara tells the group that they will tell the council that Mae started a fire and there were no survivors save for Osha.
I'm someone who is willing to believe that Sol may have grown in the years since the events on Brendok 16 years ago, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't somewhat wary of him given his emotional response, how he butted heads with Indara... and then, of course, his demeanor in the present timeline with Mae at the end of 1x06.
All of this is also why I do think that, in the end, Sol, who I think won't survive this series, will likely be used as a scapegoat for the events on Brendok when Vernestra informs the high council of the events of this show -- Thus closing the case on the events and explaining why the council wouldn't investigate it further.
My big, going on my hunches, theory is that this show will end with everything being obscured/covered up so that the Jedi can save face with politicians... And that Qimir's agenda leads to the foundation of the Knights of Ren. But, alas, we will not know until next week at least.
