Batfleck To Direct, Write and Star in Standalone Batman Film

You read that right, motherfucker.  Ben not only plans to be the Bat in DOJ and a Justice League film...  He’s got PLANS.

“The Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice actor will co-write the film with Geoff Johns, the acclaimed comics scribe and chief creative officer for DC Entertainment, sources confirm. The script would be set after the events of Dawn of Justice and the 2017 tentpole Justice League, which will unite DC’s slate of superheroes on the big screen.” - EW.com

This shit got me like:

I mean really though how do you even react to this?  He has no track record as the Bat yet so I can’t judge like I know how this shit will turn out.  I’m cool with it because he’s got some legitimate help and he did kill it with Argo.

But enough about me, what do you think?!

Possibility of 'Batman V Superman: DOJ' Trailer With 'Jupiter Ascending'

There's some speculation that a Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice trailer will premier before showings of the sci-fi flick Jupiter Ascending.  This is NOT CONFIRMED, but factors pointing to it as a possibility are strong.  Most notably, both films are Warner Bros. movies and Jupiter Ascending is very likely to receive a box office boost by having the Batman V Superman trailer preceding it.  Holy shit!

DC Comics x Berluti Playtime 'BATMAN' Sneakers

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

For those unaware I'm big into menswear, and I've been gawking at Berluti's dress shoes for quite some time.  They're Parisian luxury shoe making and bespoke clothing at it's finest.  The dress shoes cost about $2200+ per pair.  Crazy shit.  Dumb luxurious shit.  Beautiful shit.  And now they went and made some fucking BATMAN SNEAKERS.

Batfleck's Batman Voice is Sexy and He Knows It

So, after much debate as to whether Christian Bale's growly "bat voice" was awesome or ridiculous it's obvious that we're all interested in how Ben Affleck approaches a clear point of contention among people with too much time to care this much.

After 6 Episodes GOTHAM Has Grown On Me

I'm aware that I have a more critical eye than most.  It may be unfair that I compare any television series I watch to the mastery of Breaking Bad and Mad Men, but those shows happened and they should be a standard that all TV shows aspire to, in my opinion.

After six episodes I can safely say that I'm in when it comes to Fox's Gotham.  What began as a troubling resemblance to Law and Order style cop dramas has evolved into a more encompassing universe with story lines that move beyond a single episode.  Here's some takeaways and observations after six episodes:

  • Ben Mckenzie has been great as Detective Gordon, and continues to get better.  From juggling his relationship with his demanding job, to trying to walk a straight line while fighting crime.  He's done well displaying the constant struggle of being a man of integrity in Gotham, and the predicaments he finds himself in have become my favorite aspect of the show.
  • The involvement of Bruce Wayne in the story is just enough that it doesn't defy logic or reality.  He's not venturing out into the city and fighting crime, but he's also not just sitting in Wayne Manor pouting and contributing nothing to the story.
  • The villains are getting more interesting, and I've really grown fond of Penguin.  He's weird, obviously, but not over the top.  He's totally believable to become what you know he will be.
  • There's been a ton of nods to other characters so far.  A few new and notables are Bane (By way of a mention to the Venom toxin) and Victor Zsasz (who's recently been called upon by Maroni for a big job).
  • Catwoman remains underwhelming, and I truly believe that if her character wasn't so popular with fans she'd be left out until she at least grows up a little bit.  Every time I see her it feels like it's forced.  I'm sure her appearances will come around into something significant, but I've yet to see anything that suggests that.
  • Maroni, Falcone, Mooney and others round out the organized crime element that makes pre-Batman Gotham a lot of fun.  I mean, as much as I enjoy the city being terrorized by the lunatic villains it is a welcome reprieve to see the origins of the deep seeded corruption Batman, and Gordon before him, takes on.

As I've promised before I won't be divulging any spoilers to those of you who've yet to see the series.  I will, however, give you my full recommendation in the event you've been on the fence about getting into the show.  It's a fun ride, a little cheeky but sometimes pretty damn great and entertaining.

Batman and Superman to get Standalone Films After BvS:DOJ

So, at a shareholder meeting DC unveiled their film state for the next five years.  There's all kinds of DC Universe characters that getting their shine on in the next half century from Wonder Woman and Aquaman to lesser known heroes like Suicide Squad and Shazam.

What stood out the most is the announcement of there being two Justice League movies in the works as well as solo efforts for Bats and Supes.  They're both expected to in solo films between 2016 and 2020.  So, in a span of roughy 4-5 years we're going to see this upcoming Batman V Superman flick, a solo Batman, solo Superman and TWO justice league installments!  On top of that about 7-8 films spanning the DC Universe!  I bet Marvel's taking notice. - Steve

Zack Snyder Does Awesome Good Deed in Detroit

It's no secret director Zack Snyder has spent the majority of this summer in Detroit filming the upcoming superhero movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.  During his stay, he and the rest of the cast and crew have been treated to unseasonably cold and crazy weather.  The most notable being a rain storm that caused havoc in the Detroit area flooding thousands of basements across the region.
