I’m really torn about the current birds of prey because on one hand the way Thompson treats Babs is questionable and ableist (why can’t she use a wheelchair dc and Kelly?) but on the other it’s the only prominent Birds of Prey run that isn’t aggressively racist.

meanwhile the comic book shop closest to me had hal jordan the specter issue 1 for $4 and green lantern superman legend of the green flame for $14....... can someone be serious

I want a hard travelling heroes TV show but when I say that I don’t mean I want a faithful adaptation. That would be terrible. I want an adaptation that’s faithful in spirit. Give me a ridiculously topical political commentary on America (but more nuanced, sorry Denny).
I want to see Green Arrow and Green lantern deal with the futility of the opioid crisis and go against MAGA and corrupt cops. I want to see them help undocumented immigrants after Hal’s expressed concerns that what these people doing is illegal and Ollie calls him a fascist bootlicker. I want the finale to be Hal deciding to wreck the Ferris air base after he finds out they hurt the anti war activists protesting them and quitting for good as he contemplates his own complicity in their actions. (He does that in the original over environmental concerns btw)
Give it to a bunch of angry, promising leftwing writers and tell them to go off. Hire a diverse writing room to tell the stories. Green lit a DinahHalOllie polycule subplot. Make the anti woke crowd fume.

Ultimately I think the reason why tumblr posts on tiktok just Do Not Work is that when I make a post on here my beloved mutuals are already familiar with the comics I'm referencing, the fandom discourse I'm referring to, and the previous ten rambles that set the context for this one. Meanwhile tiktok fans are still stuck on the concept of Cass being mean to Jason and are mad because they find her no killing philosophy childish. They're just not the target audience for these posts it's like making the average Bluey fan read Dostoevsky

it’s ollie fucking up and running away and hal running after him to bring him back. versus. hal fucking up and running to ollie because it’s the only place he knows to go. its about reminding the other that they’re not god, first used as absolution and second as accusation. it’s always hal chasing after ollie, the first time to save ollie and the second time to save himself. hal always chasing ollie but never outrunning the arrow in his chest
