I guess he figures there's no point in closing the door when he'll be back sometime between now and three hours from now.

As a child, he loved donning his green rubber boots and matching raincoat to jump in the puddles. He loved wrestling in the mud with his brother, Will; the constant losses he endured in his younger years fueled his growth into a young man who could complete against someone older and bigger. He loved fishing with his dad in the drizzle, the drops knocking gnats and other various bugs into the water, giving the fish a good meal and making them easier to catch. Most of all, he loved when it signaled that spring, and soon after summer, was on its way.

I'm not crying, you're crying 😭 This was absolutely perfect. Everything... I love it all. The small intimate wedding. Them leaving their parties and finding each other (because obviously I'd rather be with Benny than anyone else at all times 😂). The time between the ceremony and the reception (because Benny in a suit is IRRESISTIBLE...moreso than usual). Mrs. Miller has such a nice ring to it.

BUT OMG THAT EPILOGUE 😭 I would give that man all the babies.

It’s no wonder he didn’t want you there. Still, you could’ve at least gone with Will, who ended up meeting Benny a week later. But Benny was firmly against you going, specifically with Will it seemed. You’re going to have to revisit that conversation soon.

Waking up still curled on the couch next to Benny, you stretch and look up at his sleeping face. No trace of pain, internal or external, are in his features, his chest rising and falling softly with sleep. You lean up to give him a light kiss on the cheek before getting up to make some breakfast.

Sliding the bacon in the oven, you crack a few eggs into a heated pan along with some diced tomatoes, peppers, and onions, adding some salt and pepper to the mix. You watch the eggs heat up, flipping them around with your spatula when you feel arms wrap around you as Benny places a kiss on your neck.

“Mornin’, Sparks.”

“Morning, Benny.”

He rests his chin on your shoulder as he watches you mix the eggs, steadily morphing from runny to scrambled. The eggs finish cooking and you take the pan off the burner, turning off the stove. Benny spins you around and pulls you to him, wrapping his arms around you even tighter in a bear hug. Your face is pressed to his bare chest and you breathe him in, wrapping your arms around him in return. You squeeze a little and Benny hisses - you had completely forgotten about his ribs. Dropping your arms, you attempt to back away from him, but Benny holds you to him.

After you’ve finished getting ready, you head to the arena, pushing your way past people as you scan the crowd for familiar faces. You spot Frankie first, unmistakable with his trademark standard heating oil hat, and head towards him and Monica. Getting closer, you see Santi is there too with some beautiful woman practically sitting in his lap.

Before you reach them, a hand closes around your arm. The scowl drops from your face as you meet the eyes that belong to the hand. Will leans down to your ear, trying to yell over the music and din of the small arena.

You saw the men coming from the tram that carried them from their terminal. Benny brought up the rear, which is unlike him, but you were so relieved to see him alive that you didn’t think about it. Running full out, dodging around people, Benny spots you at the last moment and drops his bag as you jump into his arms, wrapping your arms and legs around him and holding him to you as tight as you can.
