Who is the Most Useless Doctor Who Companion?

Who is the Most Useless #DoctorWho Companion?

The award for Most Useless Companion goes to… Ryan Sinclair. Of course it’s Ryan. Oh sure, I could beat around the bush for a while, then land on the Sultan of Sulk like a ton of bricks, but no. He’s gone and that can only be a good thing.  Time to celebrate, and in keeping with our new global motto, “Let’s have Fun in ’21!”, why not keep things positive — let’s look at previous companions…

Lenny Henry Criticises Doctor Who Over A Lack of Black Actors

Lenny Henry, who guest stars in the upcoming Doctor Who Series 12 opener, Spyfall, has criticised the show, saying that the BBC “would rather have a dog do Doctor Who than a black person” – which yes, is quite an astonishing thing to say.
During an interview for Colourful Radio, Henry said:
“Why have we never had a black Doctor Who? They would rather have a dog do Doctor Who than a black…

Reviewed: Doctor Who Series 1 – The Trip of a Lifetime

We were hungry, to say the least. I compare it to 1987 when Star Trek: The Next Generation came on the air. Us Trek fans were so eager to get a taste of more that we ignored the first two very shaky, uneven, and at times awful stories. But that was Star Trek, still under the guiding hand of creator, Gene Roddenberry, who was no longer the creative force he used to be. This was Doctor Who, and it…

Reviewed: Big Finish’s The Tenth Doctor Adventures Vol. 2 – The Infamy of Zaross

The Infamy of Zaross sounds like the sort of title you would get from a Random Doctor Who Name generator (try it, it’s fun). It gives very little away about the story, except that it will involve something called Zaross. There is also a race of aliens who are intent on invading Norwich. The question on everyone’s lips throughout the story is ‘Why?’… What is so special about Norwich?
It is still…

Freema Agyeman, who played Martha Jones from 2007, says “never say never” to a return to Doctor Who. The actress, currently making her West End debut in Apologia, was asked whether she could come back to the show, and replied: “I had a really great time on the show, I really loved the character, it brings so many people so much joy. So never say never! I feel like there was more to explore with…

Oh. Shiny!

No, I haven’t gone all Firefly on you – although Firefly is awesome and everyone should watch it! I am drawing your attention, beloved reader, to the release of the Doctor Who Series 2 Blu-Ray Steelbook. It’s very pretty. It stars David Tennant and Billie Piper as the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler respectively. And did I mention shiny?

Unlike the Series 1 Steelbook, this release isn’t exclusive to Amazon. For example, you can snag one at Zavvi if you are so inclined.

Available from 3rd July 2017, this release includes all 13 episodes of Series 2 (New Earth, Tooth and Claw, School Reunion, The Girl in the Fireplace, Rise of the Cybermen/ The Age of Steel, The Idiot’s Lantern, The Impossible Planet/ The Satan Pit, Love & Monsters, Fear Her, and Army of Ghosts/ Doomsday), plus 2005’s The Christmas Invasion, four exclusive art cards with art by Lee Binding, and the following array of extra features:

• Audio Commentaries • In-vision Commentaries • Billie Piper’s Video Diaries • 2005 Children in Need Special • Outtakes • Deleted Scenes • David Tennant’s Video Diaries • And each accompanying cutdown episode of Doctor Who Confidential

Check out the set in all its gorgeousness:

Following on from the Series 1 Steelbook, this does seem to indicate that we can expect more of the same for future series. So, if you haven’t already got multiple copies of of everything released in various different formats over the past 12 years, then you can fill your media libraries with these lovely looking Blu-Ray releases. Or just buy them again. You know. To keep the collection current…

…and shiny.

Doctor Who: Series 2 steelbook is released on 3rd July 2017, with an RRP of £34.99.
