Reviewed - Titan Comics' Doctor Who - Twelfth Doctor #2.6

Wow. There’s no other word to describe the shock of seeing the fantastic artwork in the first four pages of Titan Comic’s Twelfth Doctor #2.6. Zooming out panel by panel from a screaming punk singer to the orbit of ‘The Twist’, an infinity symbol shaped instillation where, the now companion-less Doctor hangs out backstage, the artwork by Mariano Laclaustra piques your curiosity almost instantly…

Get ready to be ensnared by The Void once again as Titan Comics unleash the third part of their multi-Doctor summer event Doctor Who – The Lost Dimension.

For those not in the know, Doctor Who – The Lost Dimension pits the Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctors – plus some very special guests – against an all-consuming evil known as The Void.

Issue #3 of the eight-part series sees the Tenth Doctor take the lead, with the able assistance of Gabby and Cindy, as he investigates a black hole that is not only emitting white light but also attracting one of his deadliest foes. The issue also features a meeting with a past incarnation too! (If you are little spoilerphobic, it’s best not to look at the preview images below!)

Written by Nick Abadzis (who recently spoke with the DWC about Doctor Who – The Lost Dimension) who is ably assisted by artists Mariano Laclaustra and Carlos Cabrera – with covers by Tazio Bettin and Will Brooks – Titan Comics Doctor Who – The Lost Dimension #3 is available to buy now from all good stockists and digitally via Comixology.

Following the traditions of the previous few years, Titan Comics return to the San Diego Comic Con later this month with an exclusive comic – this time, featuring Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor and Pearl Mackie’s Bill Potts!

Written by Richard Dinnick (Doctor Who: Myths and Legends), the comic, called The Last Action Figure, sounds ideal for the convention, which is typically filled with fans looking for elusive items. Here’s the synopsis and a sneak peek inside:

“When the Doctor and Bill get entangled in the hunt for an impossibly-rare action figure, their journey takes them all across time and space!”

It comes with two different covers, both by the hugely-talented Alice X. Zhang, one featuring the Doctor and the other Bill. Meanwhile, art inside is provided by Mariano Laclaustra, Carlos Cabrera, and Nico Selma.

The issue will be available at SDCC’s Booth #5537, where Dinnick will be on hand to sign copies!

Elsewhere, the convention will also include two first-to-market window-boxed vinyl figures: the Eleventh Doctor, circa Closing Time with his name-badge (in case he forgets his name); and a Pandorica Opens (ie. the painting by Vincent van Gogh) TARDIS.

The San Diego Comic Con takes place between 20th and 23rd July 2017.

Are you lucky enough to be going to SDCC? Will you be picking up any of these? Or will you be scouting eBay for them afterwards…?
