We mourn the loss of our friend Robin Williams, who always made us laugh and smile.
Do you have a YouTube account of you making your DIYs? If so may I have a link? And if you don't, dude you need to start doing it. I know a lot of people who will go crazy for the things you're doing
It's in the works!
There’s pretty much no delicious thing on earth you can’t make at home.
Have You Heard Of? | Gingermelon
I love working with felt - it’s so easy to use! No fraying, easy to cut, easy to shape, and there are so many different projects to create with it! Gingermelon is one of my all time favourite stores on etsy. There are so many adorable projects, where do I start!? The first thing I bought were the little animal brooches (top right) and made a little rabbit hair tie and recently I bought the house pin cushion - so easy to make. I’m hoping to some day create the gorgeous unicorn and maybe a few pocket pals. Not only are there tons of patterns you can buy, there’s also felt, paper dolls & embroidery designs. And if you want to make a few dolls to sell in your store or stall, you can do that too (as long as you give design credit to Gingermelon). This is really generous when you think about how long it takes to design all these pieces (and I can assure you that little girls and boys LOVE these toys!) Oh yes, and there’s also an Easter Sale going on right now - click here to see all the patterns that are currently 20% off!
These look hard, but trust me, the hardest part would be making the mold for the soap! Once that’s out of the way, it’s melt and pour and whip to create some truly amazing little soaps. Perfect for gift giving, these would look amazing in one of those glass lolly jars with a ribbon around the top! If you’re looking for some great scents for your macaron soaps, check out the sweet section of Bramble Berry for some foody smells (you can also get your melt and pour soap here too!).

Your welcome! Love the new movie!
How to Make a Pair of Ruby Sneakers
If you've ever wanted a casual Dorothy inspired outfit, I've created the perfect pair of shoes that will go with your look!
You will need:
- A pair of old or new shoes, preferably with red fabric. I used a pair of red Levis shoes from Ross.
- Fabric glue, or glitter bond
- Red glitter
- Stenciling sponge, or brush, or your fingers!
What you want to do first is remove the shoelaces from your shoes and place the shoes on top of a counter. If you want an easy clean-up, place some newspaper on your surface.
Next, brush some glue on the shoe, and even it out. You can do this section by section.
Next add the glitter. Repeat this step until you have covered the whole shoe. Then, add another layer of glue on top of the glitter and let it sit as directed (mine says 24 hours) in order to seal the glitter. This way there won't be any flying glitter as you skip along the yellow brick road! After, add your shoelaces, grab a nice checkered shirt or dress and go out and have some fun!
As always, message me with any questions.
Braid Waves
- Start with damp hair; this is important for helping the waves set properly. I prefer to dampen the bottom two thirds of my hair using a squirt bottle, leaving my roots dry.
- Run a heat protecting serum (I like to use Redken Smooth Lock Heat Glide) throughout the bottom two-thirds of hair and then brush through hair to distribute the product and to remove any knots in the hair—it’s important to have smooth, tangle-free hair when braiding.
- Section hair into 5-10 big sections and braid each into a loose braid. Keep in mind that the smaller the braid, the tighter the waves and the larger the braid, the looser the wave. It’s also important to continue to spritz hair as the untouched sections dry; to create consistent results throughout, each braid needs to be equally damp when initially braided. Also, if you braid from the tip of the root to the very end of the hair you will have a more texture than if you start each braid a few inches from the roots. Because braids start to become smaller as you move down the shaft, I like to stop braiding a few inches before I get to the end of the strands—this allows them to dry with their own natural wave instead of becoming extremely kinky (which is the result of a super small braid). Because hair is its most fragile when wet, it’s important to be gentle when braiding to avoid breakage.
- Once all sections of hair have been braided, use a blow dryer to add heat to the braids until they are completely dry—removing the braids before they are 100 percent dry will change the results of the waves, leaving them with less hold.
- For extra staying power, run a flatiron over each braid. Let the braids set while you continue your morning routine—finish you makeup, eat breakfast, get dressed, check your email—giving the braids a chance to cool completely.
- Once braids have cooled, begin to carefully undo each one. Do not brush or comb through waves—this will cause them to deconstruct. Finally, Spritz hair with a light hold hairspray (like Kenra Platinum Working Spray 14).
My Daughter insisted on being “Princess Darth Vader” this year.
Best dad ever.
Shown here is a representation of the board-game Monopoly in a theme of Harry Potter that I personally made, not bought.
This board-game was created for the non-profit use as a fan made token of appreciation and will remain as such, meaning you cannot buy this from me, or anywhere. The images used were taken from various free websites including Harry Potter Wiki, and non-protected Flickr Images.

Princess Peach Doll/ How to customize your own dolls
Can you believe that one of the most popular video game characters out there does not have a doll made after her? Sure, there are plenty of plush dolls but not one made out of vinyl with rooted hair. Thus I made it my mission to make one! This DIY may be hard for some of you, as it requires lots of sewing and rerooting (yep, plugging in blonde hair to the scalp of the doll one by one). Luckily if you follow some of these tips, I'm sure you'll be able to make your own, or perhaps make a creation of your own!
All you really need are:
- Nylon or saran hair you can purchase from websites such as dollyhair.com or restoredoll.com I totally recommend Dollyhair because there are a lot more options to choose from! I purchased about 5 doll hanks. Here's a good article that will help you decide how much hair you need to get (depending on your doll).
- Satin fabric. In the case of Princess Peach some pink and hot pink will suffice. You only need 1/2 a yard for each (and satin fabric is super cheap!)
- Jersey knit fabric for the gloves. again, you don't need that much fabric! These are dolls we are talking about ;)
- Some details of your choice. I chose some rhinestones (jelly pink and hot pink!). You can also opt out to make it more accurate to the character. I just love the idea of making it shine.
- For the brooch, I found a bracelet at Michaels that I took apart. Again, you don't need the exact same one, just use whatever you can find.
- Red and blue rhinestones for the crown
- Gold glitter (less than an ounce)
- A plastic bottle (travel kit version)
- Doll of your choice. I used a 16" Ariel singing doll from the Disney Store
For the crown, all I did was cut the bottom of the bottle into a crown. Then I covered the crown in glue, and dipped it in some gold glitter. I then added the rhinestones and voila! Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to make.
The hard part is the dress. If you are good at sewing, then great, if not I suggest looking up tutorials online. What I did, since I'm not good with measuring and sewing either, was took apart the dress that the Ariel doll came in. I played around and made my own pattern. If you really want to make my version, then please message me and I can try to see if I can help!
For the hair, here are three (1 2 3) different methods as to how you can root the hair. To style, gel the hair with some strong gel. Loop the bangs like shown in the last picture, instead of trying to cut a triangle, as that will not look good (trust me on this!). You can use some string to tie some loops on the hair, like I did.
Again, this is a hard, but fun tutorial for making your own dolls. While mine took some more effort, you do not have to follow my tutorial step by step. The point is to be creative! If you have any questions please message me! I will be glad to help.
Whenever I find one I absolutely adore, it’s always about… ah, $300 a roll. Yeah. So instead of going without food, electricity and gas for a month, I think making my own would be a lot cheaper and then I can get exactly as I want it. I think this wall is amazing - if someone told me they painted horses on their wall I would be thinking My Little Pony, but instead this is modern, clean and still fun.
I just got the I Spy DIY book so I’ve been all over the blog right now because I’m so in love with everything Jenni does! Her projects are incredibly wearable and easy to make. This little faux fur tail is so fun and yep, I love her nails too. Go out and buy her book now, you won’t regret it!
