Conchita’s Opera House show was beyond belief: her costumes were so gorgeous and hearing her voice live was pure magic. She was so graceful and poised.
I really have to thank all the people at the Opera House (one of them a worker, two of them guests to Conchita’s after party) for telling me exactly where to go and helping me meet Conchita. Also, thank you to Helen who gave me her front-row centre seat because Conchita ‘needed to see me’.
Conchita called my tattoo fabulous and said that she loved it because it was reminding her of Jesus, which is exactly what the whole concept was! I couldn’t have been more excited to hear that she got my joke. She talked about it in the Live Facebook chat the next day and called it: amazing, creative and cool, even though she admitted it did freak her out to see her face on my skin.
I cannot thank Conchita enough for making time for me as the handlers were rushing her along to the after party and for complimenting this real labour of love. I also have to thank her for making me the phoenix that I am. I dreamt of that moment for almost two years and I still cannot believe it happened.
(there is an embarrassing possibility that Conchita saw my phone wallpaper was a photo of her in her underwear)
