Robot and Gem Enthusiast

Long time no Megaman! I blame severe burnout and an overall lack of time, among other things. Mostly old doodles with some new ones scattered in, including the unfinished companion piece I originally planned to accompany the other two entries I did for Miyabi’s “30th Anniversary Megaman Project”. Alas, the best laid plans of mice and men, as they say.

I know the "Robot Cataclysm" theory (aka "Zero goes on a murdering rampage and kills all the Classic characters") has been disproven, but that's not going to stop me from imagining an epic final throwdown between my two favorite DWNs. The first DWN vs. the last DNW...I love the idea (though it’s sure to end badly...for poor Metalman, anyways). We’ll just have to pretend in that scenario, Megaman would swoop in to save the day!

💕 Happy (belated) Valentine's Day! 💕 I was determined to submit something to @rockmiyabideusexmachina’s V-day contest no matter what, so after realizing I didn’t have time to do my original idea for the Humor category, I whipped together this comic for the Talent one (though I think the subject matter leans more towards humor, oops). This is definitely the fastest comic I've ever drawn; I wound up pulling two all-nighters in order to ensure it got finished. For something I put together in three-ish days (+ one day of cleanup / layout), I actually think it turned out pretty nice! (Please full-view, and click for captions!)

I based this comic on two goofy textposts I made almost a year ago. I don't think Zero or X are the marriage-type because their bond goes beyond human constructs of relationships (and they wouldn't feel the need to make their love official in other people's eyes), but this goof was too good to pass up! I'm still not over how ridiculously huge their hands are, especially in the Megaman X5 / X6 official art (I still love the artwork from those games though).

Unrelated, but the Beach Boy's "Wouldn't It Be Nice?" started playing while I was coloring this (specifically, the second to last image) and it Destroyed Me.

I wanted to make an official ref for my Reploid oc, Monarch Monsoon, and in the process, I wound up creating an entire sketchdump of her (and some other characters)! Needless to say, it got out of hand real fast. I decided to throw in some other neat OCs I've seen because there's so many cool fan designs, I figured it’d be fun to show them a little love while doing the same for my gal. (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧

To ensure I’d have something done in time, I participated in Miyabi’s 30th Anniversary collab project! My partner Gingler and I decided to pay tribute to Megaman 8’s intro for the ‘Megaman Mashup’ prompt, swapping Rock for X, Roll for Roll Caskett, and Dr. Light for his tropical Battle Network alter-ego, Tadashi Hikari! I did the initial sketch, Gingler did the lineart, I tweaked X and Roll, my partner colored Roll, I colored X, and I did the flats for Dr. Light while they did the finishing touches on him (though for this image, I colored all three characters)! The gif below shows my process on this drawing, with my partner’s original lineart in the second frame.

“But isn’t this supposed to be a collab project?” Why yes, it is! My partner will be posting our official collaboration piece sometime soon- I just liked the lineart we did so much, I couldn’t resist using it for coloring practice! There was another drawing I really wanted to finish for the anniversary, but I ran out of time. Regardless, I might try to finish it anyways and post it later! (You can view everyone else’s anniversary drawings here).

Happy anniversary, Megaman Zero! There were supposed to be more MM0 sketches in this, but I didn't realize how many MMX / MMC sketches I still needed to finish (oops) so I had to clean those up first (though I knew if there wasn’t at least one drawing of Cyber Elf X, Saling and Chimi would kick my butt). Next sketchdump will have a little more MM0 content, with the usual miscellaneous Megaman stuff thrown in. I had fun tweaking the Guardians' designs, a few have always bothered me and now I know why people never draw Phantom, his mask is so frustrating. I’ve been using bright colors a lot more lately, it’s super fun coloring with the Archie’s color palettes- they’re so vibrant!

Some info on my Reploidsona Monarch Monsoon under read more b/c I don't know when the next sketchdump will be and idk if she'll make it into the next one.

Finally cleaned up and compiled some old Xpression doodles I did a while back. It was fun coloring these- I usually stay away from bright colors, so using the Archie’s comic colors for Zero and X was a weird change! There were a few other drawings I was going to add to this photoset, but there weren't enough to justify making proper sketchdump like my other ones, so I decided to hold off posting those until more sketches are cleaned up. I’ll always be a wreck over X5′s ending, I don’t think I’ll ever be free from it (or robot hell for that matter).

Ages ago I said I’d give the MMX girls a little love since they don’t really get any, but I didn’t have time to clean up the ridiculous amount of doodles I did of them until recently. I realized too-late that I completely forgot to include Marino & Cinnamon, so I’m making them a special something to make up for being left out.  (Click for captions! There’s not as much ZeroX in this one as usual (mostly because it’s the MMX ladies’ time to shine), but also because I’ve been writing a lot of fanfic for them lately! You should definitely check it out if Megaman X fanfic is your thing (‘A Matter of Caring’ is a good one to start with! > w o).

I’m still a little bitter about Iris’ “character arc” (I use that term very loosely) so I created an AU where she doesn’t die just for the sake of man-pain. If I had the chance to rewrite MMX4, I would’ve made it so you don’t have to kill her, and I’d give X the opportunity to fight Iris too. I think X is the only person who’d be able to help Iris rethink her whole “world only for Reploids” ideology. I’d love to see Iris go on to be an advocate for Reploid rights and an emissary for / helping with human / reploid relationships. I’ve still got a lot of thoughts about this, but that’s the gist. I know I said “remind me to never do another sketchdump” in my last sketchdump…yet here we are. I think I’m just going to have to accept my roll as the sketchdump person of the fandom!

A little birdy reminded me last week that X’s unofficial “birthday” (i.e. the day Dr. Light finished and sealed him away for 100 years) was today, but for some reason I completely blanked and thought the 18th was tomorrow. I realized my mistake halfway through the day and dropped everything to finish this fast birthday sketch for my favorite blue bot. 

Your creation may have set off a chain of events that led to a somewhat chaotic future, but I know there’s at least a few people who are happy you exist. Happy Birthday, X.

Ehh, polished up some old doodles for my Pixiv dump and figured I might as well repost 'em here. There was another image but I honestly don’t have the heart to finish it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I’m still thinking way too much about the Audio Drama and X5 bad ending lately, THEY’RE SO MESSED UP, honestly wtf Capcom, what do you have against this poor kid (and Zero) being happy? I mean, I know I put them through hell sometimes in my fanfic or sketchdumps but yeesh, compared to canon that’s nothing.

ANYWAYS, long time no see tumblr. I feel like every time I post something I either apologize for not posting more, I promise to stop talking myself out of posting things, or I apologize for cONSTANTLY BEING BEHIND ON MESSAGES. I’ll try to break that cycle (eventually). Thanks for sticking with me everyone.
