At The Earth's Core (1976) Review

Cheesy and charming in equal measure, At The Earth's Core is a prime slice of seventies sci-fi hokum ennobled by Peter Cushing and embiggened by Doug McClure, who you may remember from other films. #Review

At The Earth’s Core sees seventies sci-fi hit rock bottom and start digging! The dictionary defines “Amicus Brief” as document filed by someone who is not a party to a case but has a strong interest in the subject matter. “Amicus” is Latin for “friend,” and an Amicus Brief, is often referred to as a “friend of the court” brief. For AT THE EARTH’S CORE, my Amicus Brief was to review this classic…

Starcrash (1978) is car crash cinema. I don't want to look but I can't turn away.

Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972) Dractober Review

The year is 1872 and we’re a hundred years too early for the film you were expecting. Luckily, we’re just in time for a climactic final battle between Van Helsing (Peter Cushing) and Count…

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) Review

After the lacklustre and low-grossing “The Man With The Golden Gun”, “The Spy Who Loved Me” was to be a crucial film for the Bond franchise. Harry Saltzman had departed as producer due to financial problems, leaving Cubby Broccoli in sole charge. In total twelve writers worked on fifteen drafts of the script – which shares nothing but the title of the Fleming novel – with the final product a…

Casino Royale (1967) Review

Psych! You thought we were heading for “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”, didn’t you? Well, we will get there but as Craggus’ Bond Voyage makes its way through the movie history of the world’s most famous secret agent, there are a couple of stops off the main highway that are worth taking a look at. One of them is the psychedelic cinematic clusterfuck that is “Casino Royale”, a sprawling,…
