5 Topics You Wish Were Covered in the Babysitter Club Books | Abby

From boy drama to job loss, it would seem that the Baby-sitters Club books by Ann M. Martin covered every topic under the sun. But with your help, we came up with a few missing story lines that I think we’d all be interested in hearing about.

1. One word: periods. Out of all those girls, not one of them ever rode the crimson wave and felt the need to write about it?

2. On a similar but different note: teenage pregnancy. It’s hard to imagine that this didn’t happen to at least one girl in Stoneybrook. Even if it was from a neighboring town, we never heard it from these books! 

3. Addiction. An addiction to anything really! The closest we got to it was Claudia and her junk food addiction. It would have been interesting to see how the members would step up to help someone battling this condition.

4. Body modification. Besides the urge for getting more earring holes, it would have been interesting to explore the want for something more extreme like a tattoo or even a parent getting liposuction! Alas, this topic remained untouched outside of earrings.

5. What about Canada? Not every topic on this list has to be "controversial”. Just.. like.. how does the topic of Canada never come up? They took vacations all over the world but seem to forget that Canada even exists. (Except in Super Special #15.. which really, who read that?)
