the more I think about it, the more it makes sense that pirates of the caribbean 2 & 3 were the nails in the coffin for disney on any type of big budget, on location, practical effects movie that sent them spiralling into green screened warehouses, like the sheer audacity of these films
you listen to the commentaries on these movies and everyone's like "yeah this is never going to happen again" and they were right
ok these were all professional production stills but i wanted to add the following just to show how absolutely balls to the wall these movies were
you remember these shots
today it would be a no-brainer like "oh the background and the ships and the stupid clock is all green screened" but listen to me right now
i'm losing my mind
