200 Words: Ron at Hermione’s bedside

After the Skirmish at Malfoy Manor, Ron sat by Hermione’s bedside, praying that she would wake up. If only they had taken him instead. He would’ve endured over a hundred Cruciatus Curses to ensure that Hermione was safe. 

‘They only picked her because she was muggle-born,’ Ron thought angrily. 

Hermione was in a bad state and even though Fleur had given her a lot of potions, Ron was scared for her. What if she never woke up?

Hermione was his world and he loved her so much. He loved how she put up with him even when he did something stupid. 

She had even forgiven him eventually when he walked out on Hermione and Harry. Ron took her hand and it felt cold in his. If anything happened to her, he would murder Bellatrix himself.

To his surprise, Hermione’s hand squeezed his own and Ron felt a great leap of excitement. 

“Ron,”

Hermione’s voice was weak, but tears of happiness sprang to Ron’s eyes. Hermione opened her eyes and they found Ron, looking at her tenderly. 

“I’m here, Hermione,” Ron said.

“You’re a sight for sore eyes,” Hermione said groggily and Ron smiled, knowing that he had not lost her.

Ron never forgot Hermione’s screams at Malfoy Manor when Bellatrix tortured her.

When they got out alive, Ron sat by her bedside at Shell Cottage as she was recovering, vowing that he would never let anyone else harm the girl he loved and wishing that he took her place.

Hermione woke up that night to see him fast asleep in his chair, his hand in hers and she thanked the stars that she had Ron by her side.

I consider this quote appropriate now that we know the title of the next Fantastic Beasts Film.

200 words: Dirt

After the Battle of Hogwarts was over and the dead were buried, everyone seemed to collapse with exhaustion. Hermione wandered the castle grounds feeling a mixture of elation and misery.

Not wanting to think of the future, she walked around the lake and saw a figure sitting under the shade of the beech tree that she spent many days doing her homework.

It was Ron and he was sitting with his hands on his knees looking exhausted. Hermione made a beeline for him and he looked up and when he saw her, his face lit up.

“Hey,” Hermione said, smiling at him.

“Hey,” Ron replied, his voice sounding rough and his eyes were red and puffy. He looked like he had been crying.

Hermione sat next to Ron and he tentatively put an arm around her.

“You’ve got dirt on your nose,” Ron said softly, gently brushing Hermione’s nose with his thumb. “Just there.”

Hermione couldn’t help but smile as she remembered saying the same thing to Ron on their first day of Hogwarts seven years ago.

Ron had changed so much since then and he had become a man. He came back for Hermione and she’ll stay for him.

Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

During the Carrows Reign of Terror, I see Peeves the Poltergeist playing more of a protective role to Hogwarts students instead of an antagonistic one.

I can imagine him aiding Ginny, Neville and Luna in their fight against Snape and the Carrows.

He’d distract the Carrows by smashing vases on their heads, springing students out of detention and help Ginny, Neville and Luna by graffitiing the walls with Dumbledore’s Army recruitment messages along with many rude messages insulting the Carrows and Snape.

To make matters worse for the Carrows, Snape turns a blind eye to it all by telling them to ignore Peeves.

By the time Ginny is forced to go into hiding, Luna is kidnapped and Neville is forced into the Room of Requirement, Peeves continues his one Poltergeist army against the Carrows and many students are willing to blame Peeves in order to  avoid being subjugated to the Crutiatus Curse.

After the Battle of Hogwarts which Peeves’ long term Mischief making partner Fred Weasley was killed, Peeves was given the honour of guarding the coffin and he played an important role in the funeral when he swept his bell covered hat off and stood to attention as it was lowered into the ground.

George Weasley also presented Peeves with one of Fred’s jumpers which Peeves wore with pride. He continued to be his usual mayhem making self, but many students were aware of his role in protecting them during the reigns of Umbridge and the Carrows.

The screams and shouts of curses filled the air with the ash and war cries as carnage ensured. Molly Weasley had never seen so much fighting; It was intense as Death Eaters and the defenders of Hogwarts moved to the Great Hall to avoid being trampled by the giants.

An hour ago, all had seemed lost. Many people had given their lives to defend Hogwarts including her son Fred. Harry Potter had gone to give himself up to Voldemort and returned dead in Hagrid's arms. This was the worst night of Molly's life- she had lost two children tonight. Whilst he was not hers, Harry was more than good as her son.

But Harry's death was the spark that made the defenders of Hogwarts fight back. Led by Neville Longbottom, they defied the Dark Lord and aided by the villagers of Hogsmeade, Centaurs of the Forbidden Forest and the House Elves of the Hogwarts Kitchens, it became a full-blown riot.

I wish they included the aftermath of Ron destroying the locket in the Deathly Hallows part one movie. It was one of my favourite scenes in the book.
