With the four actors set to play the iconic members of the super team, Marvel Studios‘ The Fantastic Four now has its sights set on who will play Silver Surfer, and it looks like they are going with one of the towns biggest rising stars. Sources tell Deadline that Emmy winner Julia Garner is set to play the iconic comic book character in Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four. ...Production will begin this summer, and the film is set to bow on July 25, 2025. Marvel Studios had no comment. While plot details for this film are unknown, sources say Garner will play Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer from the comics.
@/marvelstudios: Florence Pugh is here to show you a few things she can't show you. Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* is now in production.
Steven Yeun will not be suiting up for Thunderbolts, the antihero-centric feature in the works from Marvel Studios, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. ...Like many tentpoles, Thunderbolts was struck by last year’s dual writers and actors strikes, which put schedules in disarray across Hollywood. Thunderbolts was initially slated for July 2024, but was pushed back a year to July 2025 and has yet to begin filming.
Pedro Pascal is in talks to star as Reed Richards in Fantastic Four, marking perhaps the most significant casting move since the end of the actors strike earlier this month. Sources say scheduling is a factor in whether the deal will work out, and the current status of the talks is unclear. Marvel had no comment.
Destin Daniel Cretton has decided to step away as director of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Kang Dynasty to focus on his other Marvel projects. Cretton is currently busy on the Marvel Studios/Disney+ series Wonder Man, which he co-created with Andrew Guest, who serves as showrunner. Cretton EPs the series and also directed the first two episodes. The series resumes shooting after Thanksgiving. The filmmaker is also currently working on the sequel to the $432M-plus global grossing hit he directed, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. That movie is the highest grossing AAPI superhero movie ever and also owns the record opening over the 4-day Labor Day holiday weekend with $94.6M stateside.
