Worm but earth bet has an amateur entomology subculture similar to the birding subculture and when Taylor gets bug powers the shard conflict drive instead drives her to try to win brockton bay's species list record

death count just as high as in canon.

I had a dream that I started seeing posts on tumblr about the "the pool water update." It was some new change to the site, being rolled out gradually, that people mostly didn't like.

When I got the pool water update, it turned out that when you opened up tumblr it would fill the room you were in with chlorinated water, up to the level of half an inch below your power outlets.

So to use tumblr you had to hold still, because too much movement would cause ripples that would rise to the outlets and electrify the water and kill you.

I had mixed feelings about the update. I got some pool noodles and it was nice to float around my bedroom whenever I checked tumblr. There was a trend called 'tranquilityposting' that I enjoyed. So not all bad.

There were a lot of blaze posts on dream-tumblr selling amulets that nullify electricity damage. Also, @max1461 claimed to have developed a 'posting technique that causes uncontrollable thrashing in 60% of tumblr users,' and was demanding a cash ransom to not use it

omg have you ever seen the clip where libertarians try argue against driver licenses? they compare it to needing a license to make toast. like. sure. yup. those are definitely comparable things. libertarians are some of the dumbest people alive and i wouldn’t really mind that as much if they weren’t also some of the most selfish people alive. like they really seem to want to go back to feudal times but are somehow under the impression that they will be one of the lords and not a serf???

i’m stuck on how driving is like making toast…. like it’s really easy to easy kill someone with your car on accident. you have to go WAY out of your way to kill someone with a toaster. like unless you are making toast while taking a bath you’re not going to accidentally die via toaster. the thing that pisses me off about libertarians is that they fundamentally don’t understand the concept of public health. they refuse to accept that we need public health regulations and laws to protect people. it makes me so furious because it seems like such a fucking no brainer

even funnier: one person in that debate defended the idea of driver licenses and the crowd immediately booed him

But don’t you need some amount of libertarians and anarchists to balance out the authoritarianism-liberalism / left wing-right wing average, you know, to counteract the most egregious stalinists and fascists?

concept: we don’t need either side. throw them all out. most tankies are just libertarians in denial anyway

Not a libertarian but absolutely obsessed with this recent rhetorical trend of “[faction in my coalition that I dislike] is actually all just libertarians” with the implied rider of “and libertarians are all really just right wing fascists” it Really Makes You Think Huh

I must say I’ve seen some galaxy brain takes in the ten years I’ve been on this website, but “tankies are just libertarians in denial“ sure is something.

Does anyone ever occasionally think about that time that the North Korean Intelligence Service tricked two random women into assassinating Kim Jong Un’s brother with nerve gas by convincing them they were on a reality tv show?

The epilogues say Sveta's into strange experimental electronic music and most people I know who are into that are also into goth music and I think she'd be really good at goth fashion so: Sveta (relatively) colourful aquatic goth fashion + prehistoric crinoid background

Every time someone says that Khepri was result of Taylor’s long course decision making. I find it hilarious because Gold Morning was such isolated event devoid of any connection between it and Taylor’s previous choices. Like no matter what decision’s Taylor made throughout all of worm Khepri would have still happened. Which is such fucking tragic fate that can be placed alongside with Greek tragedies. But I know that’s not what author wanted to tell which confuses me why did then in hell did he give Taylor fucking no other options. Giving her at least one other option would’ve made a it little bit better. For a story built on choices why take them all away in last battle the most important time to have choices in it.

I felt a bit similarly when I finished the story - how can you say you regret it all when you saved humanity? It was clearly the best option!

But I think it's worth noting that Taylor didn't save humanity. She helped, sure, but ultimately it was Tattletale who actually figured out how to defeat Scion by driving him to despair. That would have probably happened much the same if Taylor had stayed with her team and helped them look for solutions, rather than gamble on taking it all onto herself as a big dramatic sacrifice and forcing the entire multiverse to work together under her command.

In Taylor's mind, becoming Khepri was the only option, because Taylor always sees what she does as the only option. She saw working for Coil as the only option, for example. But she's often wrong and often ends up regretting it.

Would Taylor have made the same choice at the beginning of the story? Probably, at least after being battered down by Gold Morning. It's the self-sacrificial suicide-by-cop play she always flirted with.

But she could have moved past that urge if she'd made different choices. The tragedy, in the classical sense of the world, is that she ultimately never moved past her fatal flaw(s) and was quite literally consumed by them.

Arguably there was a point in the story where she was starting to move past her suicidal urges, when she was at her happiest... which was disrupted by Dinah telling her to cut ties. I don't think we ever get a clear answer as to why Dinah told her that, but I don't think Dinah foresaw Khepri, so it was probably because Taylor devoting herself to defeating Jack improved the world's odds at the expense of her mental health.

Even right at the end, Taylor could have chosen differently and trusted Lisa. It's hard to say for certain how it would have actually played out, but with the benefit of hindsight, we could have gotten a genuine happy ending; where they figured out the same strategy together and Taylor lived happily ever after.

Glowworm (1-5)

Finally staring a Ward read! Putting glowworm under two posts, but I'll probably split the other stuff by chapter with quotes or a couple at a time with how long I know they get
