NED! It’s sliver and over the top and you could probably kill it with a violin.
If anyone is thinking "wow I want to read someone pouring their special interest into a fic" I made a thread on bsky with a bunch of recs! I have to credit @the-widow-olivia for the idea to make threads of related fics that are hard to search for. You shouldn't need an account or have to download anything to access the links.
I would like to share with all of you the fics that I have read this weekend, and I think you should read them too. all ed/stede.
rated G/T/M:
and life is like a song by heavenorwhatever super short and sweet meet-cute in the rain. thank you kylie for the rec on this one, perfect cozy vibes.
hot to go by @piratecaptainscaptainpirates ed and stede are newly dating and ed gets sick and almost misses their date. lots of comfort, lots of snuggles, lots of love.

the caretaker by @soupbtch danny, you absolutely broke my heart with this one. a look into the kraken era where frenchie offers ed some much needed compassion and understanding. and lots of pastries.
two of a pair by @jellybeanium124 asexual gentlebeard that made me cry (in the best way possible) and help connect the dots on a few things for me. thank you so much for this one, nina. <3
halloween sunset by @the-widow-olivia innkeeper era, historically inaccurate pumpkin carving, and spider-wrangler stede. short and sweet, slice of life with a side of seasonal depression and talking it through.

undisclosed desires by @ralnex two of my favorite things, book author ed & stede and downright filthy stede, yes please and thank you.
Ed and Stede meet when they’re partnered up for a Get Out the Vote campaign. But between knocking on doors, sparks fly. A fluffy little pre-election collab from me and @ferventrabbit!
This is my first ever collab AND it pushed me over 100k on AO3!!!
Sorry I just needed to isolate this for my own purposes. This show is a COMEDY
One of my all-time favorite moments between these two.
Please answer and reblog, trying to decide something 💚
Happy Halloween! Please enjoy the podfic of "Halloween Sunset", a sweet story by @the-widow-olivia. Rated M.
"Ed and Stede set out to carve a jack-o-lantern for the inn, and Ed reflects on love in a season of change."
Now you can listen to Ed and Stede’s first Halloween as innkeepers! With your ears!
It’s pretty much Halloween, so… Enjoy some fluffy Gentlebeard pumpkin carving and reflections on getting through a darker season.

OFMD Drabble Week Day 7!
Prompts are all from @ofmdjanuaury @ghostalservice, who has said we might get to do this again in future!
Reblog with your drabbles.
Drabble prompt: Feast - Tidy - Surface
Roach starts by wiping down all the surfaces in the kitchen (he likes his roommates, but they could tidy up a bit more). It doesn’t take long, because the kitchen is absolutely tiny.
That’s partly why he sent Wee John and Frenchie to the liquor store — he wants the kitchen all to himself. He checks his hand-written menu again, texts his mom to ask how much cardamom she uses. She texts back, “I use enough.”
He didn’t realize how much he’d miss her when he decided to spend Christmas with Wee John and Frenchie.
But at least tonight, they’ll feast.

if ofmd characters were middle schoolers the drama would be unprecedented. ed teach middle school popular girl getting your heart broke by the nerd who spends recess in the library I see you
I haven’t really written Zheng before, so this was a fun challenge!
Drabble prompt: tender - chemistry - translate
Life would be a lot easier for Zheng if she didn’t have any chemistry with this guy. Or any guy. (Auntie had asked more than once: “Couldn’t you just try being a lesbian?”)
Thing was, Zheng might’ve been exaggerating a little when she told Bonnet she’d “dated” those guys on the wanted posters. It was mostly a whole lot of hot, regrettable sex. Whatever attraction propelled them into bed didn’t seem to translate in the light of day.
But Olu was different. Like that weird, soup-obsessed guy said, he was tender as hell.
Maybe it was worth it to try.
do you have any other theories about a potential s3? what you said about the timeskip makes a lot of sense to me!
glad you liked it and sorry this took a while to answer, i have had a busy real life recently! what this was about was me predicting a hypothetical s3 would involve ed really wanting to get married and stede not feeling ready for it. i will return to that prediction at the end of this but first here's other stuff i'm willing to predict about s3 if it happened, ordered from the what i'm most confident about to least:
(i'm going to phrase some of this in the future tense as if s3 was actually going to happen but that's mostly because couching everything in hypotheticals made this really wordy and also sort of bummed me out. please do not take any of this as a prediction that s3 is or is not likely to actually happen. i am firmly agnostic on that. i'm just talking in here about what i think would happen in a s3 if there ends up being one.)
ok back to the fun part!

OFMD Drabble Week day 5!
So far I have started with a different line every day — let’s see if I can keep it up for the last two. Cue up “Miles from Nowhere” for this one.
Drabble prompt: Suspect - Glide - Resist
Stede has never rowed his own dinghy before — aside from that one time with Nigel throwing rocks at him (but that hardly counts).
With great effort, Stede drags the boat into the waves. The sand and surf resist and then subside as he gets deep enough for the dinghy to float on its own. His trousers are soaked to the knee when he clambers in. His first attempts at the oars are more flailing than effective, but he finally begins to glide over the open sea.
Stede suspects that his new life is going to involve a lot of firsts.
