I have heard fisher cats’ vocalizations being described as screams or cries of kids or children… but I never understood exactly how uncanny their actual sounds are!

It’s becausw they’re Lesser Cats!
Cats can basically be split into Lesser Cats and Greater Cats. Greater Cats can roar, but can’t purr. Lesser Cats can purr, but not roar. When Lesser Cats want to be Loud and Aggressive, they kind of have to make weird yowling sounds because they can’t really roar or yell. Their throats just arent made to do that. Its why housecats just yowl at each other.
