Let me just say this, right fucking now:

If that abusive piece of shit, voynov, comes back to this team, I will flip my shit, and the Kings will not get any more of my money or support until he is gone. Fuck that guy and honestly, fuck Lombardi for doing a shitty job of dealing with everything that happened in the first place.

“Why would we get Bishop when we already have Quick??? Whoever plays, you’re gonna have a really good goalie sitting on the bench!”

UUUUUM.  That’s like saying you don’t want Bumgarner because you already have Kershaw.  Why wouldn’t you want both???  And wouldn’t you rather have him sitting on your bench than in another team’s crease?

And it’s not like Bishop is gonna be a backup for the rest of his career, just for the rest of this season, and possibly into a Cup run (if we can get our shit together).  He’s going to get more playing time than an average Kings backup, too, because Quick is coming off of a long injury and won’t be able to jump back into his regular workload.  Bishop’s an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, so he was always going to go somewhere else, anyway, he may as well help us out for the rest of this season.

Unpopular Opinion:

I AM SUPER EXCEITED TO GET BEN BISHOP!!!

Before you start attacking me:

  • No, I’m not happy to see Budaj go, the timing is actually really unfortunate.  Yes, he did so much for us this season, and I’m really happy and grateful for him, but I figured all along there was no way he would finish the season with the Kings.  I just didn’t see it happening, and hey, good for him that he got traded for a really good goalie to an NHL team that will use him instead of getting tossed back down to the AHL.
  • No, I don’t consider it a “Giant ‘Fuck You’ to Budaj”.  He’s being sent to another NHL team, not thrown in the garbage.  And let’s be honest here, the Kings aren’t exactly the #1 team to be on right now, anyway. We’re not even in a playoff spot right now.  Budaj could either be the backup in LA or the backup in Tampa.  Neither one of those is a terrible option.
  • Yes, I know this isn’t going to solve all of the King’s problems.  I never expected it to.  But you can’t deny this is cool.  Quick is back, but he’s not going to be able to jump right in and take on his usual workload. Now, on the games he’s not playing, we’re going to have Ben Bishop in the net, and that is seriously awesome!!!
  • Yes, I am all too aware that this doesn’t solve the Kings scoring or defensive problems.  Again, I never thought it would.  Just because it doesn’t fix everything doesn’t mean it’s not cool.
