when a film or tv show takes place somewhere where you have been, it is your sacred duty as viewer to say “i’ve been there” every time you recognize a place
I’m sure you’d like to take some weight off your cloven hooves. Call me the devil, Raymond? How original. Actually, I was calling you a goat. You goat.
Girls Are Loving The Villains - And Here Is Why
The leading man puts you on a pedestal. His virginal, untouched, angelic - not like all the other girls girl.
As if being like all the other girls was a crime.
As if liking pink, or wanting to curl your hair - as if wanting to be feminine equates to being vapid.
I should know - I used to think that way. Inspired by lead characters like Bella Swan or Hermione Granger who were not like the other girls - who wore plaid, and hated shopping, who was clever above all else - I was somehow better than the girls who did.
But now more and more we see girls who like villains.
Rey who liked Ben Solo - because with him she was not a virginal Mary Sue. With him she was dark and light and she chose to balance it. With him she was someone who can feel attraction, desire something normal. With him she was not alone.
Alina Starkov who fell in love with Aleksander Morozova because he told her she was more than what she hid herself in. She was the sun, and she deserved to shine. With him she was powerful. With him she was alive.
And now recently Heather Nill who was attracted to Ray Hall. Ray who liked her when she flew, unlike her friend who keeps stopping her. The bad guy who believed she could.
No longer do we like the canonically nice men who expect us to be perfect, their little angels, to be cherished and protected. We are starting to like those the old world labelled villains for looking at a woman and saying yes, you are capable of so much more.
I'd rather a man who worships at my altar of my hips, than a man who scorns me for being less than perfect.
And if that is not a progressive feminist evolution in literature then I don't know what is.

“It felt like sometimes you would lose a little bit of the authenticity if you tried to nail it so perfectly. Things won’t exactly always match up, there might be a hint of something that’s off, but I think that kept it feeling really alive and in the moment and it was better to sacrifice it that way, but yeah, I was watching it non-stop.” - Rami Malek
If I ever stop talking to you & remove you from my life, I hope you understand how hard it was for me. I have a bad habit of holding onto the little bit of good in ppl, no matter how bad they clearly are for me. So if I don’t fw you anymore, it’s bc you pushed me past my limits
this year I’ve fully accepted the importance of truly discerning what’s healthy for me and what’s not.. and how the people I allow to have access to me affect my world so intensively. intimate relationships, friendships, family.. they all hit the same- it’s all apart of the #process for ultimate #growth
“I said to Nic, ‘She sings, she dances, she dies,’ and Miss Nicole said yes. So glad she did. Making it with you, Nicole, was such a gift.” – Baz Luhrmann
oh to be a small clothed animal from a beatrix potter book, living in a cottage on the countryside kneading bread and such.
