The Pistol Shrimp This snapping shrimp uses its claws to not only one of the loudest noises in the sea (218 decibels) but a deadly force as well. The snapping causes a cavitation bubble which creates enough pressure to kill some prey and stun others. When the bubble collapses it reaches a temperature of over 8500 degrees Fahrenheit, which is close to the temperature of the surface of the sun (about 10,000 degrees).
