I would also really like to see espwnt vs swewnt!
Sweden is traditionally very good at defending, very diciplined and so. They best way to punish sweden’s defense is by counter attacks, and I feel like that isn’t spains biggest strenght, and other that that swedens is very good at minimising the spaces and let the other team have the ball if that is needed. In front of todays game vs USA they are mainly talking about the US counter attacks and how to stop that but it feels like they aren’t as afraid playing a team that just like to keep the ball within the team
Since changing coach (4 years ago but people keep forgetting because of all the debate after last olympics) sweden has really developed their own possession play as well and can be really effective in the attack. When Pia was the coach, the tactics was to defend their way to victory in every game, so be against nr 1 ranked usa but also nr 45 ranked whatever, and while that mindset is gone, a lot of the players are the same so when needed they still know how to do it
So with that being said, in a game sweden vs spain, spain would of course have the ball the majority of the time, but if they don’t start being more effective in the attack, sweden is a team that could really punish them
Ooh yes okay, it could end up being a fantastic battle between a very good offensive team and another very good defensive one. Fully looking forward to this match up at some point!!
