thor: my name Thor
Thor in Avengers already wondering “who controls the would be king”, then in AoU going on his quest to figure out what’s going on beyond the obvious, investigating further threats to the wider universe in Ragnarok.. I mean he’s the only one who’s been caring about Thanos and trying to get to the bottom of things so he better fucking not get sidelined in Infinity War.
Thor has been much more essential to The Avengers than he’s made out to be. Here on earth, you have multiple factions trying to find solutions to stop threats from reaching earth. Yet, Thor’s the only one providing any solutions because he knows what kind of threats are out there and even if he didn’t? He’s one of the few capable of seeking out real solutions.
Then, you have these individual heroes trying to act big, and Thor becomes so angry with them because it is petty! They are tiny! They have no comprehension regarding how insignificant their existence is to the worlds outside of Midgard. No one takes him seriously, though. No one understands where he is coming from. They’re not going to fully get it until Thanos touches down.
The Chitauri were just a warm up. A very relatively easy warm up and while the attacks certainly had a serious effect on everyone that was taken seriously by all, they are so woefully under prepared for what is coming but they’re going to think they’re too strong to fail. Thor is old enough to watch empires crumble. He has seen super powerful beings die. He knows the gravity of this all.
If anyone has solutions to this incoming disaster that is Thanos, it’s going to be Thor. If anyone should be giving any kind of leadership, it’s Thor. He’s spent much of his time traveling from realm to realm to learn and to defend. They can power Thor down all they want when he’s with the mortals, but he is narratively one of the most important characters when it comes to this.
IN THIS HOUSE WE RESPECT OUR LORD AND SAVIOR THOR ODINSON
