It's my 13 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
She's ripping up a copy of the bill itself by the way
hmmm…pretty sure one of these is not quite like the others
I’ll never quite get over just how integrated kids are into daily Jedi life and the implications of that.
Dooku’s Temple "job" for years seems to have been “teaching lightsaber preschool.” Sifo-Dyas, the guy with the scary doom visions? Oh yeah, they have him working with infants, bringing babies to the Temple as a Seeker. Jocasta Nu is constantly depicted interacting with the younger generation of Jedi, teaching, helping, or mentoring. In TCW, she knows all the Padawans on sight.
There’s just something really ordinary and charming to me about this. Sure, Dooku is a terrifying 2m of spider limbs in a robe, but he’s still going down on one sinister knee to check out the little crying kid who got a finger crunched by one of those wooden training swords. How many of the TCW-era Jedi were once babies who played with Sifo-Dyas’s hair loopies or cuddled on his chest as he pointed his T-6 back toward the Temple after another successful Seeking mission? (Space is, after all, cold. 🥺) You just know Jocasta is in very reluctant possession of knowledge of every single teen Padawan drama, crush, or breakup. She tries to stay out of it, but she’s broken up fights and pulled particulars into her office for tea and a gentle lecture on the inherent self-destructiveness of gossip.
And these are not “just some” Jedi - they are all combat trained, politically important, at the top of their rank and even each sit on the Council at some point in their lives. The Jedi Order really went “super powerful space wizards with laser swords, yeah, but they should also all definitely know how to change a diaper."
First day of Master Dooku’s lightsaber class, probably:
I went to the county fair and there was a doll sized quilt show happening in the fiber arts hall?!
I’m deciding it now. All shows, conventions and fairs should have a second smaller version of themselves within them. Yes academic conferences, yes comic conventions, yes state fairs, yes horse shows, yes whatever old guys are doing with old cars.
They all have to have a second smaller version of themselves like a model village
A quote from the article:
"Seeing that there were four open board seats but only two progressive candidates running, they organized a write-in campaign...It worked: Shipps was elected by a margin of just 67 votes, defeating a candidate who had tried to get the book Gender Queer banned from local schools."
It is so rare that a write-in campaign works, I am so impressed with the level on which these kids organized! I'm so proud!
Someone living in Sweden during the Iron Age wore this cloak. Unfortunately, they wore it while they were murdered: forensic analysis found the holes in the cloak match how stabs would have penetrated the folds of the cloak when it was being worn.
Dating to 360 to 100 BCE, is also the oldest known example of a houndstooth pattern!
Nothing I will ever write will ever be as good as “unfortunately, they wore it while they were murdered”
The ozone layer is not only healing, but will likely be back to its 1980-state within a Millennial's lifetime
- "The Earth’s protective ozone layer is on track to recover within four decades in a gradual process that’s expected to close a major ozone hole over Antarctica, a United Nations-backed panel of experts announced on Monday.
- The findings of the scientific assessment follow the landmark Montreal Protocol in 1987, which banned the production and consumption of chemicals that eat away at the planet’s ozone layer.
- The upper atmosphere ozone layer protects the Earth from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation, which is linked to skin cancer, eye cataracts, compromised immune systems and agricultural land damage."

It's important to summon the creature out of the warp before you start to weave
The Last Binding serie of Freya Marske @fahye for Dazzling Bookish Shop special edition 🚢📖🍂
Listening again to Hamilton songs (still bangers, always) and now I just realized the time period is around the same as Temeraire.
...let's make a musical out of it
Ok ok look just make sure you're not drinking or eating anything while playing this one, you WILL choke
This is like that time my kid told me that science was for boys and I was like, “You were literally sitting next to me sitting the organic chemistry review. That’s science. I’m a scientist.”
I never saw an unconscious bias change so fast. Not only was science for girls, but she seemed to think we (as in all girls everywhere) were very generous for allowing boys to participate in it from time to time.
It's only a passing thing, this shadow.
If you have a PhD or an MD you can say shit like “Doctor’s orders” and you sound authoritative and powerful but if you’re a step short of those and you say “Master’s orders” you sound cringe as hell and possibly corrupted by the One Ring, this sucks
I think Amanda fully believed she and Sarek were dating for weeks or months before he realized that she thought that.
Like, Sarek is thinking he's doing SUCH a good job in Human Diplomacy, he has made A Human Friend. They do activities together, consume meals together, communicate outside of work functions in an informal fashion. Amanda makes an effort to show him Human culture and landmarks that are more likely to appeal to a Vulcan and is considerate of his different physiology in a way most Humans usually forget to be. She doesn't touch him without warning but still somehow uses body language to convey to other Humans that they are together on their activities. She gives him lots of signs of Human comfort and intimacy without pushing too hard at his Vulcan boundaries. He's Succeeding at Human socializing!
Meanwhile Amanda has like. Introduced him to her parents. Taken him to friends' weddings. Done super obvious This Is A Date activities with him, only tailored to accomodate Vulcan preferences about physical contact and emotional displays. SHE thinks she is doing So Good at Wooing The Vulcan. Sometimes he willingly touches her when they are out in public, to like, keep them from getting separated, or pull her out of the path of danger or discomfort, which as far as she knows is like Vulcan First Base.
But also she is a Human woman they have been dating for months and taking it slow for her Vulcan beau is beginning to grow...somewhat frustrating! A little! Like she enjoys spending time with him but also! She would sure like to touch him more! Maybe kiss him! She would even settle for feeling up his hands the way Vulcans do because she has gotten so preoccupied with his hands since they've been dating, she feels like a 19th century maiden, it's insane.
So she casually broaches the subject of whether or not Vulcans engage in sexual activity outside of Pon Farr (when they're having a quiet evening alone in one of their apartments, obviously, you don't have a sex talk with your very shy boyfriend in public) and Sarek is like. Well that's a very intimate topic, Amanda, why do you ask? Is there a Vulcan you are interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with?
And she's just like What.
And he's like (gently condescending) That sort of question could imply a "come-on", as you Humans would say.
And she's like I SURE HOPE IT WOULD, SAREK, MY BOYFRIEND OF SIX MONTHS, WITH WHOM I WOULD LIKE TO BE PHYSICALLY INTIMATE
And Sarek is like WHAT.
I usually imagine that Sarek proposed ten minutes into their first conversation, but I might like this even more 🤣
