Kaladin as a character makes me go insane
there's something so awfully intriguing about the juxtaposition of a character who was trained to become a surgeon, who is so Fucking Good at medicine and saving lives, because no matter what Kal might say he IS fantastic at it, and who wants more than anything to be a soldier, who becomes a soldier, who Is a soldier, and who seems to prefer it
And yet he time and time again needs to rely on the skills he was taught lowkey against his will and theyre Genuinely what gets him a good part of his respect from Bridge Four AND others before them and that duality coupled with Kaladin's Insanely troubled view on especially his training as a surgeon is SO fucking tasty
It makes me nuts it's So Good it's Such an interesting contrast and Sanderson manages to do Such cool shit by just giving Kaladin BOTH

it is genuinely bewildering to me that adult human beings do not know this but if you are mean to people they will not like you. like tbh they are probably also not going to like you if you are mean to other people but they are definitely not going to like you if you are mean to them. it doesn’t matter if you are funny or if you can use r/aita rules to prove that you are in the right. people simply so not enjoy being treated like shit.

1)“No other head of hair so dull, no other face so plain.”
“Valerian,” Prince Cardan calls. He is glowering already and when he sees me, his eyes narrow further.
2) Cardan has one foot in the reeds, as though to get a better look.
3)Abruptly, Valerian is kicked off me. I roll onto my side, coughing. Cardan is looming there.
“Enough,” Cardan says. He has an odd, wild expression on his face, and a muscle is jumping in his jaw.
4) Then Cardan takes hold of my hand, which seems even less possible. His fingers are overwarm against my skin. He stabs the point of his pin into my thumb.
5) Cardan veers in our direction. He’s wearing loose clothes and carrying a practice sword.His eyes narrow at the blood, and he points the wooden stick at me. “You seem to have cut yourself.”
6) Across the room, I see my gown. Taryn gasps when I lift it up. (yeah we know u wanted ur girl to be the prettiest)
7) Though I am sure it’s the last thing he meant, he did me an enormous favor when he whisked me away from Locke.
His hand slides lower on my hip. I narrow my eyes at him.“You really hate me, don’t you?” he asks, his smile growing.

Early one direction was fantastic. NO stage presence. No dance moves. They’d just be up on stage like awkwardly bopping around and shoving each other and like fucking giving eachother smooches on the cheek. There was one show where Harry styles got pantsed during his solo??? They were the boyband that NEVER wanted to or intended to be in a boyband! They were totally in it for the fame and the money, but they became BROS !!!! They were FRIENDS!! And that’s the true beauty, the friends we made along the way!

SJM wouldn't just throw this at the story for nothing. The author herself gave Eris a made item. You cannot convince me it won't have some impact in the future.

This is barely anything at all but I'm rereading The Cruel Prince and I'm currently at the scene after the slaughter of the royal family, when Jude and Cardan are trying to get into the palace, and there's a part where Cardan (trying to get them past some guards) says,
“The High King Balekin is a friend to my lady's Court.”
Jude then explains:
According to the baroque rules that govern fey tongues, everything he said was true enough, so long as you concentrate only on the words. Balekin is Madoc's friends, and I am part of Madoc's Court, if you squint a little. So I am the “lady.”
Buy the thing that's just stopped me in my tracks is......Cardan didn't just call her any lady. He called her “my lady,” which means that he must actually, genuinely view her that way already..............it's interesting, is all I'm saying.
