Please, please I am begging my American followers to vote blue because even if nothing changes some of us will have time to prepare to flee.

Keep in mind that Biden losing doesn’t mean an end to the genocide in Palestine. It just means more death.

once again, people like you don't actually care about Palestine if this is the shit you're saying. biden losing actually WOULD mean the end to the genocide in Falasteen if y'all could get off your asses and organize and mobilize ppl to vote third party. i don't want to live under trump OR biden. there simply is no lesser of two evils here when genocide is happening under either of them. you don't get to decide that genocide isn't a deal breaker because it should be for you and if you actually cared about Palestine, you wouldn't be voting for either of them.

Former President Trump blasted President Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war during Thursday night’s debate, saying Biden has “become like a Palestinian” because of his criticism of Israel.
"Israel is the one. And you should let them go and let them go finish the job. He doesn’t want to do it,” Trump said.
“He’s become like a Palestinian, but hey, don’t like him because he’s a very bad Palestinian. He’s a weak one,” Trump added.
(X)

I don't know how to break it to everyone that Trump is pro-Israel and that if he takes office, any US led efforts towards a ceasefire are not likely to continue.

The Democratic candidate losing means that the Republican candidate wins, there is no other probable outcome.

Who are you even planning on voting third party for? There are states where the deadline has already passed to get on the ballot, so any newcomers this late in the game (and a few of the already declared third party candidates) wouldn't even have a chance. Even if we did "get off our asses" right now, we can't vote for people who won't be on the fucking ballot.

But hey, if you are willing to bet lives on the US public organizing en masse within the next 122 days and successfully electing a third party candidate for the first time since the 1800s, that's on you.

I can throw my vote away in November or I can use it as the bare minimum in harm reduction that it is and own the eventual outcome of my choice. I know what I'll be doing.

....someone really doesn't get the system is literally set up to stop a 3rd party win. That's why the fucking electors are there.

This old anarchist is here to fucking tell you there is no way a 3rd party can presently do more than get the 3% needed to stay on the ballot. The system is purposely set up for that.

You guys need to vote blue. The genocide will get worse if you don't. Trump was fanning tbe glames his last term in major ways and will kill more Palestinians in more horrific ways. Do I need to remind you little shits that this man literally wanted to nuke a fucking hurricane?

Hope you queer non voting kids are ready for a flashback because if he wins we're going back to the pre stonewall days. You have no rights that can't be stripped away short notice.

Like we know Biden would never but God imagine if he just had Trump assassinated as an official act right now and then resigned from office. What would SCotUS even do.

Like you can't impeach him, he's resigned. You can't prosecute him, that was an official act as God-President. You can't even turn the precedent over, you just fucking set it. Joe just goes home and lives out his remaining year retired from the public eye and gets to watch the chaos unfold on TV.

I know this is just circulating again because of trump's botched ear piercing, but I was thinking about the scotus ruling and I think the most elegant action would not be to execute Trump, but to simply fire Roberts, Alito, Kavanaugh, and the rest.

What's that? The supreme court is a lifetime appointment? Sorry buddy but see here it says Biden fired you officially.

They're not dead, it's not even permanent, in fact there's a very easy way for them to get their court appointments back! Since the "officialness" (aka legality) of any Presidential action is now up to the Supreme Court, the ex-judges simply have to sue Biden. They will then get to argue in front of the Supreme Court (that is, their remain liberal colleagues) that the President actually can't do anything willy-nilly, and wouldn't they please overturn the previous scotus ruling on presidential immunity so their firing can be nullified?

If they want their jobs back, they will have to beg to repeal their own ruling.

Yes we have to do this every fucking time because it doesn't go away. It's not designed to go away. The president nominates Supreme Court justices and the Senate evaluates them for confirmation. That's how it works. The Supreme Court is on every ballot.

The far right justices in question are Clarence Thomas (75) and Samuel Alito (73). The likelihood that both will be able to remain on the bench until 2029, at the earliest, is small, especially with the growing ethics concerns around Thomas’ financial improprieties and his wife’s association with January 6 that may push his retirement even though he is currently (very) resistant. Thomas and Alito are the oldest members of the Court.

Re-electing Biden substantially increases the chances of the loaded 6-3 court shifting to 5-4, moving control away from the far right bloc, by 2029.

But it also has to be considered that Sonia Sotomayor, even though she is only 68, may not be able to remain on the bench through the next presidential term due to health concerns.

The first Trump presidency and Mitch McConnell’s scheming loaded the court with three right wing ideologues who barely qualify to teach law at Regent University, let alone have lifetime appointments to our highest court.

It is crucial to remember that the impact of a presidency on the courts outlasts any other presidential legacy and can change the entire course of American life for decades.

[March 15, 2024 addition: when I say that judicial appointments outlast any other presidential legacy, as of today, there are still 15 judges serving on federal courts who were appointed between 1981-88 by Ronald Reagan. Think about that.]

So my post on Oklahoma making it legal to take indigenous children from their parents without tribal consent is blowing up, and I'm glad people are horrified. But what I need people to know is that this might happen on a national level.

The Supreme Court is debating overturning the Indian Child Welfare Act.

What this act does is give Native American and Alaska Native tribes and nations control over the foster and adoption placement of their children. To overturn it would be to say tribes and nations aren't sovereign, and it would also allow the U.S. government to forcibly assimilate indigenous children into other cultures.

Please:

  • Spread the word about what is happening.
  • Read online news articles about this; the more traffic on those articles, the more likely the press is to write more articles.
  • If there are protests in your area, join them.
  • If there are indigenous nations or tribes in your area, ask them how you can help.
  • Donate to indigenous rights organizations like Native American Rights Fund.
  • Write to your representatives.
  • If ICWA falls, keep all of the above up. Don't just shrug and think it's over.

I genuinely mean this, I hope all 5 of those Supreme Court members who voted Yes have to live their lives getting harassed and are extremely bothered till their last dying breath.

Bother them, make their lives miserable, make them not want to leave their homes.

republicans will be like “good news, everyone! we have passed legislation that will make it legal for us to shoot you in the chest” and dems will respond with “we have listened to the SCIENTISTS and the SCIENCE says that being shot in the chest is bad! and that is why we are proposing a BOLD counter-legislation that would provide FREE bulletproof vests to individuals making less than $30,000 per year!” and leftists are like “um yeah I guess if those are our only options I’ll pick the dems but why is it legal for you to shoot us in the chest? maybe they shouldn’t be able to do that in the first place? where’s that option?” and dems will be like “shut up and vote blue no matter who you stupid fucking hippie” and then you find out that the private company that makes the bullets and the vests funds both parties

I need all you fuckers who are going to blame Democrats for this to understand that Roe v Wade was overturned on election night 2016.

This was done when people didn't fucking vote for Hillary Clinton. This was done when that monster bought off everyone on the right who objected to his immorality by promising them Supreme Court justices. This was done when the right understood how to play the long game while the left whined and squabbled about the lesser evil.

Things are only going to get worse from here. They will overturn gay marriage next. They will win the midterms and finish the job of destroying the election process itself. They will end all vestige of democracy.

And if you sit on your ass refusing to vote when you still have the ability to, you will have no one to blame but yourself.

If you think I'm exaggerating, please keep in mind that I fucking TOLD YOU that Roe v Wade was going to get overturned six FUCKING years ago.

Stop fucking assuming it can't get worse. It can get so much worse than you can ever imagine.

what the fuck is voting going to do, shes on the supreme court for life you idiots

I am so glad you asked! Voting is really fucking important to retain some minor control in a country with a fucked up constitution that protects white men and money and shits on everything else. The system is set up so that it is more difficult for anyone who’s not a white man to vote, so I’m not surprised you feel that way.

Black men couldn’t vote until 1869, which is disgusting, but on top of that, they were met with “artificial hurdles like poll taxes, literacy tests, and other measures” to further prevent them from voting even when it was legal. The Voting Rights act did not come until 19-fucking-65 to repeal Jim Crow laws. Black Americans in the South could not vote in democratic elections until AROUND 1960. So like, when your grandparents were adults. Maybe your parents were even born then. Read more about the absolutely disgusting voter suppression Black Americans faced here. Until the 60s.

White women earned the right to vote in 1920, but unsurprisingly, they were really racist too.

Asian-Americans could not vote until 1943. Mabel Ping-Hua Lee is someone you probably didn’t hear about in history class, but she fought really hard for Chinese Americans’ right to vote.

All of that to be said - I understand why you say voting doesn’t matter, and it’s because the voter suppression that existed for hundreds of years is still working. They’ve convinced you that none of it matters so you’re sitting it out, which lets them win. If not for any other reason, why not vote to say fuck you to those that actively pushed for white supremacy, violence, and sexism to continue? Why not do it symbolically, even if you think your vote doesn’t matter?

More than a dozen elections have been decided by one single vote. A GOP cop lost an election by one vote. Fuck the GOP, and fuck cops. Your vote could mean the difference between a cop being in power.

One election that was decided by a single vote created a Republican majority in the Virginia House of Delegates because “one of the ballots was "defaced" because the names of two candidates were crossed out with the notation "Do not desire to vote for these two". They did this even though the person who cast this vote (which was known because it was a signed absentee ballot) testified that he intended to vote for Moss. Throwing out the ballot created a tied vote.[10]

Finally, I’m going to copy and paste this entire article about why it’s important to vote in local elections.

1. Local government manages a lot of different things — and their decisions will directly affect your life.

There is no level of government that is more directly responsible for serving your community than your local elected officials. Local government can affect almost every aspect of your daily life. Here’s just a few of the things they’re responsible for:

  • Local school quality
  • Deciding sanctuary jurisdiction status
  • Policing and public safety (and holding police accountable)
  • Rent costs and affordable housing
  • Public transit
  • Alcohol and marijuana ordinances
  • City colleges and job training programs

. . . the list goes on and on, all the way down to your recycling options and collection.

To sum it up: your local government has a lot of money and influence to decide what your community’s priorities are and how it will be run.

2. State and local governments lead the way when the federal government isn’t.

For many of us, the 2016 election was a rough one. Like, really rough. More than any other voting bloc, our chosen candidates ultimately didn’t win. But there’s still a way to harness your passions and make a real difference, and that’s by getting involved in municipal elections.

Did you know that many landmark federal policies first originated at the local level? It’s true — local politics have a long history of shaping change in our country from the ground up. Policies such as women’s suffrage, minimum wage, environmental protection, and marriage equality all began at the local and state level.

By voting in local elections and holding your officials accountable, you can help create the change you want to see in our country. If nothing is moving forward at the federal level (or your federal representatives aren’t making progress in areas that you care about), it’s the responsibility of local governments to take action.

3. Your vote will make a difference.

Typically, just 1 in 5 voters participate in off-year local elections — meaning your vote at the local level can have an even bigger impact. For example, on just one election day in Ohio, 7 local issues were decided by just 1 vote.

Plus, if you do participate (and help your friends and family get to the polls, too), your elected officials will likely be more responsive to your needs and interests because you’re a voter. And if they aren’t, the next election is a a great way to fix that…

Again, make sure you never miss an election and are signed up for Rock the Vote’s Election Reminders. No matter where you live in the US, we’ll give you the information you need to participate in your local, state, and federal races. Also, make sure to check out our list of 2017 election dates to find out what’s happening in your area and across the country.
