as an aroace person with limited sexual experience, no interest in watching porn, and poor sex ed as a teen, there IS something simultaneously funny and vaguely tragic about being 28 adult years old and realising how extremely tiny your frame of reference is for genitalia and deciding you should expand this to better understand bodies (yours and others). and then you're just there like "okay so what the fuck do I even google right now, anyway"

Breast Gallery-Nonsexualized Images of real, anonymously submitted breasts

Critique My Dick Pic [tumbex archive]-real submitted dick centric nudes

thank you (i think?)

why wouldn't it be thank you? you expressed interest in sexual education materials related to genital body diversity, and i keep these resources on hand for exactly that purpose.

it's natural to be curious about bodies--yours and others. the presence or lack of sexual intent motivating that curiosity is irrelevant. they're just body parts

I also found one of my favorites I couldn't find this morning: The Great Wall of Vulva and their Labia Library

sorry, my gratitude was real, my uncertainty was @ me ("am i sure i actually want to spend my evening looking at genitals or was i using the difficulty of knowing what to google as an excuse not to learn things") lol

do you have any resources for trans bodies, especially transmasc bodies? i am interested in better understanding what changes i might expect as someone on testosterone, but though i found references to photo projects re: bottom growth in a few places, all the links were dead

totally, the London Transgender Clinic and Dr. Keelee MacPhee have a variety of before and after photos related to various gender affirmation procedures.

i think that r/GrowYourTDick is the best repository of images of specifically trans masculine bottom growth. I can't comment on the culture of the forum, but there is absolutely a lot of images of transmasculine genitalia and extensive discussion of physical changes.

For (relatively*) trustworthy information, Hudson's FTM Resource Guide contains a lot of information about medical side effects and Things To Generally Be Aware Of, like increased risk for yeast infections and tips for managing locker rooms/swimming. *I can't verify that this information is up to date

I'm not directly connected to any trans masc transition support networks, but i know that discord is a thriving space for transition support and information sharing. i think it would be relatively easy to find positive community there. they often compile resources and information for members as well as provide topical discussion spaces. here's the disboard listings for public trans masc oriented servers

and this is just a really beautiful series of portraits of trans masculine people.

that about taps me out on resources!

no, I lied, I'm not done. I spent way too long looking for this photography archive documenting trans nude portraits specifically. lost to the ether. found other stuff though:

Archive of Body Alchemy: Transsexual Portraits by Loren Cameron, which includes images of genitalia in its "Genital Reconstruction" section, page 46. Portraits of clothed trans masculine people other than the author begin on page 34 in the "New Man Series."

thanks! sharing for the sake of anyone else interested too

yeah there's so many dead links out there it's tragic. sometimes you even get as far as the artist's website and they'll have a page for the project but then the project is gone and you just get a 404. i'm guessing the increasing hostility of internet providers and stuff towards nudity/nsfw content and also the general atmosphere for trans people has an impact on the safety and practicalities of continuing to host stuff like that :(

Things about boobs that everyone should know

Because I just keep finding out people don't know these things!

  1. Most boobs "sag."
  2. Actually, on that note: very very few people have the stereotypically perfect breasts that are round and perky and don't touch your ribcage/belly. Here is an entire gallery of non-sexualized, perfectly normal breasts. Here is another one, but in one image. There's an incredible range of size and shape!
  3. Also related: very few people fit those molded foam-cup bras. Because very few people have a boob that shape. "Then why are those kinds of bras everywhere??" Because they're cheap to make and they hide your nipples.
  4. Your "armpit fat" is probably not armpit fat. It is probably your tail of spence, and you have lymph nodes there. Some people have a bigger or smaller tail of spence, and it has very little to do with how fat you are or how big your boobs are. (Some bras can press on it or pinch it uncomfortably, like balconettes.)
  5. When you lie on your back, your boobs will go into your armpits. That is true of EVERYONE WITH BOOBS, with the exception of some implants. Boobs are squishy! This also means that like, lying on your side will cause them to flop over. If that's uncomfortable when you're trying to sleep, there is such a thing as "sleep bras."
  6. Lots of people's boobs get bigger and/or painful before their period starts. Some people gain an entire cup size every month.
  7. Whether or not you wear bras has no effect on "sagging." The one "study" on this that was written about everywhere extremely badly done. The one exception: If you do the kind of exercise that has you jumping around/jogging a lot, and you don't wear a supportive-enough bra, it's possible you can injure the cooper's ligaments. But also: that would hurt, a lot.
  8. Bras also have no effect on whether you get breast cancer.
  9. Everyone has one boob that's bigger than the other. It's just a matter of degree.
  10. The size of your boobs has nothing to do with whether or not you've had sex???? I'm stunned that there are people that believe this, but I've heard multiple people say they had relatives who absolutely believed this--refused to buy teenagers the correct size bra because "only sluts wear D-cups," or insisted a thirteen-year-old was "fast" because of breast growth during puberty...good lord.
  11. It's possible for AMAB people to breast-feed--they have the same mammary glands AFAB people do! Some hormonal issues can cause people (both AFAB and AMAB) who haven't given birth to lactate, but also there's a few cases where transgender women have been given the same hormones that AFAB people's bodies make during pregnancy/lactation, and voila! Breast milk!

(I very intentionally didn't go into bra sizing with this post, but yes, if you hate your bras, you are probably wearing the wrong size and/or style for you. That's a much more finicky topic though, so I'm just going to point out that the letter doesn't mean anything about boob size by itself, D isn't big, and Victoria's Secret's "fittings" are garbage. For more info, go to the subreddit for r/abrathatfits, or try their size calculator.)

just wanted to add a couple of things about trans boobs (for trans people on estradiol)

• it's common for people who start off with cis male pattern chests for their nipples to be further apart on the chest than with cis female pattern boobs, so it's common for us to grow boobs that have a wider gap and don't do cleavage naturally - and this is natural (but you can get them tweaked if you want to and if you have the money or insurance or whatever in your country)

• it's also common for our boobs to grow in looking pretty conical for a while, before they fill out more over time, and this is natural - many cis boobs that come with adolescent puberty do this too, and it's worth remembering that cis puberty takes up to ten years to complete itself in terms of body shape changes, so be patient with your trans puberty

Hope this is helpful to someone

When I was 20 and got married, older women loved to try to scare me with stories of what it's like to live with a man.

My marriage is wonderful 20 years later.

Through my 20s into my 30s, older women loved to try to predict when my baby fever would kick in and they'd tell me horror stories of motherhood.

We chose not to have kids and baby fever never hit me.

Now, I'm in my 40s and older women love to tell me about how I'm going to suffer through menopause. They gleefully recount hot flashes, the weight gain, how I'll have to "work harder to be a woman".

I'm not even perimenopausal. I'm only 41. I know about menopause. It's not a secret.

Can women just let women age? This isn't support. This is aggression in pink.

I had to steal these from a d*ily m*il article but AG has released a book promoting body diversity and love, which includes parts supporting trans kids!

Conservatives are ofc throwing a fit rn– so over here in our trans-inclusive space, let’s show overwhelming support for this book! Esp with the recent h*rry p*tter collab, let’s show AG that we want them to continue supporting ALL women!

???????? HOW IS THAT UGLY AND UNDESIRABLE??

??????

It's literally the average normal ass bone structure of women.

You know blah body neutrality, beauty exist in the eye of the beholder, we shouldn't love our bodies based on how desirable they are to others, blah blah... yes. I strongly believe in all that.

but. also.

HOW IS THAT CONSIDERED UNNATRACTIVE?????

this trend is so recent as well, like it's everywhere in art.

Ok, not only do i think that you should not concern yourself about your fucking bone structure etc... but also. they're sexy. SEXY

men are just a bit shapeless you know

WE NEED TO STOP THIS MODERN SLANDER OF THE BEAUTIFUL SEXY HOT HIP BONES OF WOMEN

thank you.

Ive noticed people drawing stick necks on fat characters and i must take a stand against it

I noticed prev tags asking how you draw this from the front and I’ve been meaning to make a tutorial about this for a while so what the hell!! Please excuse how rushed this is but hopefully it communicates the concept

When drawing fat bodies it’s very helpful to visualize each individual part you’re drawing. When it comes to the double chin, you wouldn’t usually draw two actual chins, but sketching it that way can give you an idea of how the fat hangs! (also you can’t go wrong with literally just drawing the neck slightly wider)

Once you’ve accounted for the double chin in your sketch, you can start experimenting with lines. Generally you’ll want to use minimal lines to indicate where the first chin is, and then the second chin will be a bit more free form. Weight is carried mainly in the bottom of the face, so as a general rule, a heavier person will have a larger double chin.

Also keep in mind that the jaw becomes rounded and will sit lower on a heavier face! And remember that the neck can have rolls, too.

My simplest advice for drawing fat faces and necks boils down to this:

ERASE THAT ANGULAR JAWLINE

Redraw the jawline lower and rounder

Draw the neck wider like literally just take the two lines that make the neck and scoot them outwards BAM that’s already an improvement

thanks for attending my ted talk xx

“I’ve been a massage therapist for many years, now. I know what people look like. People have been undressing for me for a long time. I know what you look like: a glance at you, and I can picture pretty well what you’d look like on my table. Let’s start here with what nobody looks like: nobody looks like the people in magazines or movies. Not even models. Nobody. Lean people have a kind of rawboned, unfinished look about them that is very appealing. But they don’t have plump round breasts and plump round asses. You have plump round breasts and a plump round ass, you have a plump round belly and plump round thighs as well. That’s how it works. And that’s very appealing too. Woman have cellulite. All of them. It’s dimply and cute. It’s not a defect. It’s not a health problem. It’s the natural consequence of not consisting of photoshopped pixels, and not having emerged from an airbrush. Men have silly buttocks. Well, if most of your clients are women, anyway. You come to male buttocks and you say – what, this is it? They’re kind of scrawny and the tissue is jumpy because it’s unpadded; you have to dial back the pressure, or they’ll yelp. Adults sag. It doesn’t matter how fit they are. Every decade, an adult sags a little more. All of the tissue hangs a little looser. They wrinkle, too. I don’t know who put about the rumor that just old people wrinkle. You start wrinkling when you start sagging, as soon as you’re all grown up, and the process goes its merry way as long as you live. Which is hopefully a long, long time, right? Everybody on a massage table is beautiful. There are really no exceptions to this rule. At that first long sigh, at that first thought that “I can stop hanging on now, I’m safe” – a luminosity, a glow, begins. Within a few minutes the whole body is radiant with it. It suffuses the room: it suffuses the massage therapist too. People talk about massage therapists being caretakers, and I suppose we are: we like to look after people, and we’re easily moved to tenderness. But to let you in on a secret: I’m in it for the glow. I’ll tell you what people look like, really: they look like flames. Or like the stars, on a clear night in the wilderness.”

You people realize the body positivity movement is literally a political movement right. Like it's a movement that was started to improve the rights of fat people and stop discrimination against fat people. You realize that. It's not a tea party where everyone just compliments everyone else on their looks.

One time I was teaching undergrads and we were talking about how you can even define what is "fair" in employment. And I was explaining how there have been court cases about employers forcing their employees to wear makeup or do their hair/nails, etc, so of course we end up talking about flight attendants. And my students, predictably, are like, "Well ok but in the case of flight attendants, being good looking is literally just part of the job description." So I point out how applying this principle universally would basically make it so that any employer could refuse to hire someone who was fat or ugly. And That One Kid was like, "Well if it affects the business's ability to make money, I mean, that's just smart." And so I say, "Yes, that is certainly what a capitalist would say. But don't you think that allowing that capitalist interest to take precedence would lead to a world in which it's legally permissible to refuse to hire someone just because they're fat or ugly? Basically legalizing discrimination and blocking access to work and livelihood?" And this motherfucker is like, "Well, yeah. 💁🏻"

When I tell you I almost had to leave...I was full-body shaking and afterward, my queer students came up and were like, "omg are you okay?"

So yeah, it's fucking political. What you think is about personal aesthetic preference is actually oppressing huge groups of people, so.

This is a fascinating example because I actually am a flight attendant, and no the fuck it isn't a part of my job description to "be good looking." It hasn't been since the 60s. We're literally first responders. Should your ER nurse have to wear makeup in order to save your life?

It's fucked up how much advertising for health and fitness stuff focuses on "this will make you ~more attractive~ which is just code for 'thin' with an optional 'toned but useless muscles' spin if you're a man" when none of that is the goal or even the most likely result of fitness programs. It shouldn't be about being appealing to others it should be about being more confident and having more fun in what you and your body can do.

There should be a much bigger focus on like... Yoga as a way to gain muscle range in recovery from injury. Weight training so you can carry your kids when they get tired, or so you can put your mate on your shoulders during a gig to see better. Looking into diet choices so you can cook a homemade meal for friends. Rock climbing or obstacle courses or parkour because when was the last time you, as an adult, got to look at a fun challenge and say to your pal 'gaun then, bet you cannae dae that, race ye'? Football, rugby, basketball, dodgeball, it's about playing, not about... Dress size or some such bullshit.

Everyone I know who enjoys exercise has these sorts of reasons - my dad's an avid climber because it lets him have fun with his friends completing physical puzzles and cheers him up when he's stressed, my mate cycles because it helps his leg injury hurt less and means he can have fun hanging out with people for longer without being in pain, when I stopped eating meat and started having half a thought about nutrition it made me genuinely enjoy cooking for the first time. You should be encouraged to walk or jog because there's something interesting over there, not out of some sense of aesthetic burden.

Capitalism has driven us to a point where the narrative is "you're ugly and morally deficient, which are of course the same thing, unless you do fitness programs you hate chasing an arbitrary standard". There's no fun in it any more.

Fuck off, burn your local gym, and meet me round the waste ground for a game of rounders.
