I love your blog and your drawings!!! What program do you use I'd like to start but u dont know how!!!
And that really all depends on what effect I am looking for in the art itself, if I am painting or creating something more refined or concept-y.
When I am working on comic related art, or promotional stuff, like for my webcomic, Aurelio. I use FireAlpaca because it has a really streamline feeling and layout, and the pen tool does wonders when creating line art. It’s perfect for making art that’s really smooth and has that “finished” look. ;)
Plus, FireAlpaca is FREE and always upgrading, so any features it doesn’t have now, chances are they’ll add sometime later. It has a wide range of different tools, but not as many as other programs may have and they don’t always deliver the desired effect based on description— but again, it’s ALWAYS updating so hang tight and they’ll probably add things you want~ It’s GREAT FOR BEGINNERS AS WELL!! It’s also a smaller program and doesn’t use an awful lot of memory or RAM.
If I had to rate the program overall, I’d give it a 9/10.
The second program I use is called Krita and it’s perfect ( in my opinion ) for painting or working on less “refined” art. I have also created some basic comic pages in there, attempting to reach that more finished look, and while it did not match the ease that FireAlpaca has with setting up layouts and panels, it was possible.
The program itself is rather complicated for beginners and a little crowded in comparison to FireAlpaca’s simple layout, but once you get the hang of how it works and where everything is ( the program also has GREAT personalization features btw ) it’s a dream to work with and makes painting extremely fast.
This program is larger in memory size and uses more RAM so keep that in mind as well. BUT IT IS FREE TOO!
If I had to rate the program, I’d give it a 8/10
All and all, it depends on what YOU are looking for as an artist and what works best for YOU creatively. These are the programs I use and highly recommend but don’t stop there, try lots of different programs and see what works smoothest for you! :) Look luck and let me know if you have any more questions~
