After playing through msq for the past months, I felt like drawing all my faves
Azem: If I died how much would you miss me?
Emet Selch: It‘s cute that you think death can get you out of this relationship.
Rare dialogue I found. Spoiler-ish.
why did I never think of casting Speak With Dead on that particular corpse
I did two drawings for the seventh anniversary of FFXIV . I got some questions as to why so and so wasn’t included, but I picked 7 for each piece (my limit) and tried to represent many aspects of the FFXIV game. This was also featured on the FFXIV stream community commendations in August 2020!

Emet: That it is...
Azem: And you know what that means right?
Emet: Unfortunately...I do...
Hythlodaeus: Come on Hades just spit it out! We've been waiting for this!
Emet: I don't recall it being your nameday as well, Hythlo.
Hythlodaeus: I get a free pass anyway :)
Azem: Also, you promised!
Hythlodaeus: Can't go back on a promise, can you? Not your style.
Emet: groans Alright, alright! But only this once...
Emet: ...now, who do we prank?
Azem and Hythlo: WOOOOOOOO
Records of the Constellations (5.3 Spoilers)
A transcription in order of speech of the constellation crystals of the Convocation of Fourteen, and how it might be read and interpreted.
I NOTICED that the colors of those two crystals were complementary! I didn’t make the connection to 4.4′s name “Prelude in Violet” tho. That’s so wild.
Herein I commit the chronicle of the traveler. Shepherd to the stars in the dark. Though the world be sundered and our souls set adrift, where you walk, my dearest friend, fate shall surely follow..
Emet-Selch in 5.3:
After reading your thoughts on Venat...wild speculation but do you think it's possible Emet-Selch could have pulled a Vauthry with Zenos? Somehow placed some sundered piece of Venat in him before he was born like he did with Vauthry and the sin eaters? I keep thinking about what Fandaniel said about "Could Emet-Selch have found a way?" Maybe it would explain why Zenos' mother passed away so early in his life? Probably super wrong but your thoughts on the series are really exciting! Thanks! :)
Hmm, that is one of the reasons for which I am convinced having Azem’s crystal and its summoning power is going to be handy when we set foot in Ilsabard. That and the wherever-they-are Solus’ empty clones. I do not know if Fandaniel’s words are different in Japanese or in another localization to have a better context, but whatever the case, if there is something that it is heavily implied, is that Zenos never thought much of his great-grandfather ㅡhe calls him a coward right before the fight with Shinryuㅡ and I doubt Zenos’ antics would amuse Emet-Selch. Zenos’ Echo is artificial, for he is a fully-empowered Resonant, and Elidibus is impressed by how much he has achieved through this. However, apparently Zenos has been dreaming with the Final Days ever since he was a kid, correct me if I am wrong. I wonder if what Fandaniel ponders is if Emet-Selch ㅡamong the Ascians, the one most known for mingling with mortalsㅡ managed to imprint into his descendants the memory of the Final Days. Why would Emet give Zenos this memory, then? Unless this is one of his grand schemes, which I doubt, because Emet wanted “a path of lesser tragedy”, not giving power or knowledge to a ruthless beast like Zenos.
I have to say, taking Fandaniel’s elucubrations for granted is a bit of a stretch. His words are to be considered but as he admits, his knowledge is rather second-handed. As I said before, I am not sure if Zenos has been dreaming of the Final Days ever since childhood or if it has been more of a relatively recent event. Because if so, his Resonant condition might be to blame for, perhaps, awakening this vivid memory.
However, it could simply be that Fandaniel ponders if Emet-Selch had anything to do with it at all. Lest we forget, the Convocation crystals were in his possession and those are what are used for awakening the sundered Ascians’ memories, and Fandaniel went through that process himself so he would know of it. The line could have been a foreshadowing of the fact that Emet held the key for restoring memories to those that have been sundered, or it could be something more yet to find out. If 6.0 is going to be us treading into Garlemald and the lands the Empire once conquered in Ilsabard, that is the nation Emet built, and none better than him would know its secrets. So I would say Emet’s guidance, in whatever form, is going to be key for unraveling these mysteries.
The Shadowless (5.3)
In which I will speak of something that I have got in mind ever since I ran the Heroes’ Gauntlet but now I believe I found a deeper layer on the Ascians’ etymology and situation.
I was asked to translate what was said in Japanese in the scene just before the 5.3 Trial. It was put out there that it’s a bit different, so I switched my Client to Japanese and took lots of video and screenshots because I was curious about a few things in there. What I worked on first was the scene I got asked about. Under the cut to save some Spoilers for anyone still trying to avoid them. Boop.
(Re)United Through Past, Present and Future? (5.3 Spoilers)
In which I will expose a theory about the bond between the WoL/D, Emet-Selch and G’raha Tia.
Elidibus banishing the WoL/D to the Rift: Struggle all you like. Even should you break free, there is no way back.
Emet-Selch:
A gift from Emet-Selch. He knew of Elidibus’s plight. Forseeing his own death, he made provisions to bring Elidibus’s suffering to an end, lest his friend be left to continue the struggle alone.
