I feel like I'm in the minority, but I just can't bring myself to make more than one OC per game. I'm sorry, but those stories belong to Nahr, Marian, Amity, and Journey and any attempt to replace them would just feel wrong, even if I don't consider it canon. I would be too sad and miss them too much. All of you planning a Rook for each faction/romance, you're stronger than me cause I could never.

Varric definitely told Rook stories about Hawke, there's no way he didn't so she knows how important their friendship is. After what happened in Kirkwall, my Hawke went into hiding with Anders and Varric is the only other person who knows where she is. They regularly send letters back and forth.
After finding out about Varric's death, Rook goes through his things and finds his final letter to Hawke, written shortly before he went to confront Solas. Once things calm down a bit, she sets out to deliver the letter and the news. Because as isolated as Hawke is now, I couldn't leave her not knowing the fate of her best friend.

I just think it's important enrichment for my female OCs to have a male bff who's not their love interest. Nahr had Zevran. Hawke had Varric. Amity had Dorian. Anyway, from what I've seen, I think Journey and Lucanis should be besties.
Before playing DA2: Might change my canon worldstate so Hawke gets left in the Fade; I wonder how much angst I can fit into one character :D
After playing DA2: I will burn down the world for Hawke's happiness, she's been through too much tragedy omg I take it all back. She's going to marry Anders, they're going to run away and open a clinic in Amaranthine where they help runaway mages and whoever else needs them, they're going to have three cats and two daughters and be a lot better off than my warden (dead) and my inquisitor (sad), no tragic Fade death for you, my love ;_;
