It’s actually pretty easy to see why David didn’t choose to have his opening Bafta sketch be DW themed.
Cuz he would never do that to Ncuti.
While yes, he is still technically the Fourteenth Doctor, he’s not playing the current iteration.
And choosing to have his opening sketch be DW themed would focus too much attention away from Ncuti before his proper era has even aired.
I also love how he chose Staged, a more niche work and snuck in a Good Omens reference cuz you know he absolutely loves playing Crowley. (And working with Neil and Michael.)
