In my perfect worldstate, Varric and Hawke adopted Rook, merely because it would super funny to see how Varric became more responsible and mature due to his circumstances, while Hawke remained the same troublefinder (yeah, finder, as in they're always finding trouble by accident), and dragged Rook to the same fate. So now Varric has to watch over his spouse and child while dealing with every kind of shenanigans, from politics to crazy cultits, from protecting the world to bar fights. Even in his Inquisition times, his life was less tumultuous, but he's not complaining 'cause he's with his favorite troublefinders.
Lucanis complains that resurrection wastes the effort of a good kill. Which. Yeah. Anyway I cannot leave Emmrich out of my party, I love him too much 😔
it's the dragon age autism at work but i'm disliking playing the crows literally just because I think they should be shitty bc when you think about it, they are still kind of shitty. When i saw they were going to be a faction in this game i thought 'ohhh hell yeah that's the Stinker Faction' but they're like, good guys....i wanted them to suck :(
I can at least kind of understand why the Lords of Fortune are good guy pirates thanks to Isabela's antics in kirkwall but even then just knowing there was potential for morally gray factions is chipping away 1hp from my healthbar every time i think about it
If I had a nickel for every time my MC had sex in a graveyard with their companion in a rpg-based game, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Taking everything veilguard gave me, I have two ideas to make Varric x Hawke a thing despite everything.
1) Varric's trapped in the prison instead and will be stuck there forever regretting his past, da2, Anders, dai, Solas, the whole package, including leaving Hawke in the fade.
2) He's fine. He's just taking a vacation in the fade. He's already got a ticket to Hawke's exact location. It's fine.
How my Veilguard fics will be from now on (in this house we refuse canon)
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DA2 MENTIONED
(Isabela my beloved, I miss you and our Kirkwall party sm)
Single dad and his adopted son my beloved
*Veilguard minor spoilers*
Romance Emmrich nation, I need to know if Emmrich's favorite color is the same for every player or if he does it based on Rook's eyes. Cause my Rook has lilac eyes and he said his fave is lilac (and then the game proceeded to guess my fave color by giving the option "purple but darker" lmao).
So please let me know in this post, I NEED TO KNOW, IT'S FOR SCIENCE
I cannot help but feel very sad that Bellara and the Veil Jumpers are out there discovering ancient elven artifacts and playing with them meanwhile Merrill was SO punished by the narrative for wanting to do the same
So far, I think what I love the most about Emmrich is his empathy. Obviously, his passion for knowledge and politeness are outstanding. But it's just when you truly have him on the party that you can have a glimpse of these little moments. When he can sense the spirits' feelings, if they were abused or not, if they're in pain, if they had a good life. His relationship with Manfred is absolutely the sweetest, always caring for Manfred's welfare. He also mentions that he couldn't accept having ten students at a time because he wants to give special attention to each one of them, and couldn't do it if they're that many. It comes naturally to Emmrich because he is an optimistic person, contrary to his circumstances. He has to, given his constant fear of dying.
On a side note, this is what it feels like to grow up in a positive (well, for a Nevarran necromancer's point of view) environment, unlike the usual circles you see across Thedas. Emmrich had the opportunity to thrive in a place of death because he was cared for. Meanwhile, oppressed mages are constantly on the edge of pushing themselves towards blood magic the moment they sense death, which is pretty much all the time given how Templars are supposed to watch them or how vulnerable to possession they are.
This made all the difference in Emmrich's life, and this is why he's such a lovely character. Because he was cared for in a moment of need, and now he wants to repay by being kind to others. And that warms my heart so much.
emmrich volkarin is truly the man of all time. he's a necromancer. he's a gentleman. he's endlessly compassionate. he's a professor with tenure. he loves flowers. his son is a skeleton. AND he's pan! what can't he do
Me (Rook) at Varric waiting for him to mention Hawke at least once in Veilguard:
the varric brainrot is real ✨
It was impossible not to joke about this.
