I'd say, give everyone one chance to redeem themselves, if for nothing then at least for proof. They'll either exceed your expectations and do good by you or spectacularly validate your previous judgment. It's literally a win-win situation.

Peoples, things, events, happenings all based on one emotion: guilt. Begging for scraps of our emotional response, begging to exploit us for it. For most people, the option of not buying into it doesn't even cross their frotty minds, those who mistake their meekness for a virtue and release them fine endorphins for allowing themselves and their families be guilted into hardship and adversity.
