SUNDAY KEYNOTE ANNOUNCED

We’re thrilled to announce that on Sunday 8th, we’ll be joined by JULIAN SANCTON, author of Madhouse at the End of the Earth.

In the Antarctic winter of 1898, Belgian naval officer Adrien de Gerlache, captain of the Belgica, made the glory-seeking (and ill-advised) decision to sail deep into the ice, ultimately stranding his ship and and its multinational crew for months in the polar night.

In Madhouse at the End of the Earth, Julian Sancton chronicles the mayhem that unfolded under those most extreme circumstances. He’ll be joining us for our Sunday keynote to talk all things Belgica, as well as answering questions from the audience!

TERROR CAMP 2024 FRIDAY KEYNOTE ANNOUNCED

We’re thrilled to announce that on Friday 6th December, we’ll be joined by Jessica Houston of BEYOND HER HORIZONS, an all-female polar expedition that navigated the Northwest Passage in 2023.

We’re so excited to talk to Jessica about her time on the expedition, which sought to explore, document, and honor the untold stories of Inuit and non-Indigenous women in the history of Arctic exploration. With film footage from the expedition, we’ll discuss new ways of telling Arctic history.

What does it cost to run Terror Camp?

A quick note about our finances!

From the very beginning, Terror Camp has worked on the principle of radical accessibility.

For this reason, Terror Camp is and will always be free to attend.

However, as we’ve grown, so have our costs. Following Terror Camp III in December 2023, where we experienced a record 1000+ registrants, attendees were invited to financially contribute to support the financial future of this project. These generous contributions have secured continuity of access to online Terror Camp materials, and ensure we can stay connected as a community. You can see a full breakdown of our 2023 costs here.

This year, we’re introducing an optional Pay What You Can ticket when you register to attend (opening later this week! 🎉). Want to know exactly where that money is going? Good news! You can see our projected costs for 2024 on our financial transparency page.

With your help, Terror Camp will be able to grow for many years to come. We’re so excited to reveal the 2024 program soon!

At our listening party this week, Dave K briefly discussed the music that some characters from The Terror might listen to today...

& we’re SO excited to announce that he wants to keep the discussion going, in the form of 12 Terror character playlists, created by Dave & voted on by you!

Vote now for the characters you’d most like to hear from (poll closing Sunday), and we’ll share Dave’s 12 playlists during the run up to Terror Camp 2024.

And lastly, once Dave has released his own personal choices for tunes, he really wants to hear the playlists for that character from everyone else in the fandom!

You’ll be able to contribute yours using a special hashtag each week, and we'll all jam out together 🤩❄️🎵

— xoxo Terror Camp Command
