coming back after a long time with totally unexpected content
I love the idea of Maitryei Ramakrishnan as Raven, and I'm not afraid to show it!!! 😡
Curious how they'll go about portraying Raven in live-action. Hope they keep her with black hair, but it'd be neat if they did something with makeup to resemble a mask; they'll need to do something to make her stick out from the television series and multiple designs in the comics.
More Raven. Can't get enough of drawing her!
Wanted to share this one as a stand-alone because it did well on Reddit and I need positive reinforcement to get back in my art stride!!
Wanted to put all of my Maitreyi Ramakrishnan Raven pieces together. I haven't used markers consistently in YEARS, but trust Raven's colour scheme to pull me back! 🐦⬛♦️
Yet another Maitryei Ramakrishnan Raven sketch.
Trying to come up with an original design for her and am digging the combined 70s-wardrobe and 80s-goth-makeup look.
She looks like she could be from Yellow Submarine and I'm okay with that. TIL I handle marker like a 70s animator dipping their toe into psychedelia colour schemes.
A (poorly) photographed and cropped sketch of Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Raven. I'll get this scanned and cleaned up by Saturday, hopefully!
(That is not her hand, it's her scarf behind her.)
Raven, looking demony in pen and cheap brush marker
I think any reboot of Teen Titans should be required to redesign Terra to retain Y2K fashion, and that's all there is to it.
Dark and smudgy eye-shadow squiggly-shell edges, ribbed long sleeves, and a bonus zig-zag part. All this and more is all we need to emphasize probably the most important Terra FACT: this girl listens to (nay, idolizes) Avril Lavigne and probably relates to an uncomfortable degree to Ginger Snaps.
sharing my Raven fanart I did few days ago
Found this Raven sketch from like seven years ago!
They're agender and I was leaning into the idea of a Raven that essentially looks more demon-y in the eyes/isn't as capable of maintaining a full on near-human glamor since they're, yknow, distracted by constantly focusing on not being possessed.
It's more interesting when Trigon loves his daughter, but also he is irredeemably evil.
Like he is evil, Literally he was made when an entire group of people severed all of the evil things from their souls, and that evil coalesced and was born as Trigon. He revels in misery, his only goal is to conquer and destroy, because evil is what he is. In a way he never had a choice to be anything else.
I think about that a lot, being born of Evil, specifically the evil that existed inside of the people of Azarath. Evil is typically defined as the things that we hate, the things that disgust us, that we find reprehensible. So am entire people removed the things the hated about themselves, from themselves and that Hate became Trigon.
I imagine he's a very lonely person, desperate to make a connection to something outside himself but unable to because he is made of Rage and Hate, which to me is why he values Raven so much. In all of creation, she alone is like him. They are a Species of Two in his eyes.
He wants Raven to love him back, to accept him for being Evil, and for her to be evil like him. Which is the tragedy of their relationship honestly. In all of creation there s probably no one as kind and understanding as Raven, she alone could see the loneliness inside her father, for its the same loneliness that is inside her. But they could never accept each other fully. Because Trigon does revel in the pain he causes others, and Raven couldn't turn a blind eye to the suffering of anyone, and what Trigon wants is for Raven to be just like him, so that they can cause misery together. A Species of Two.
Kory, with hair modeled after some Oprah magazine cover. She needs BIG HAIR. MORE! BIGGER!!!!
