Mermaid’s rock pt. 3

This started from Inktober 2016 and it was only in the past month that I’ve really knuckled down and tried to render water and finish it. Trying to render shine in the scales and a convincing water texture in black and white with no greys was really tough but I think I got it. Overall I’m really proud of it and I feel like it’s going in the direction I want a lot of my illustrations to go (heavily inspired by early 20th century book illustration).
