NEW VIDEO: STERILIZATION : Choice, Guilt and Necessity
Reproductive rights, generational trauma, and a history of violence against Indigenous women in Canada and the United States.
someone posted a screenshot of the museum of tolerance in jerusalem wikipedia with the part how it was built upon a centuries old muslim burial site and i can't find the post now but it reminded me of how the canadian national museum of immigration celebrating the "immigration" of europeans to turtle island was built upon stolen land (kjipuktuk or great harbour) that has been a sacred site to the mi'kmaq people for thousands of years lol
museums in settler colonies are always named like "museum of friendship and diversity" and you find out it was built directly on top of an indigenous village
Notice the use of past-tense too.
We are still here!
comic book trend that honestly irks the fuck out of me is when an existing character comes out as gay and they invent a new character to be their partner. like theres nothing wrong with it per se its just that the new boyfriend/girlfriend character is always jarringly bland and uninteresting, especially when compared to the latent homosexual potential that definitely already existed in the story. like there’s something so deeply unsatisfying about introducing a new side character as a girlfriend for karma in new mutants 2019 when she’d been having dramatic hand-holding adventures with dani the whole time. it implies such a definite hesitancy to ever make characters gay For Each Other, and the result of that hesitancy is that you don’t get any of the long-term slow-burn relationships that heterosexual characters get (like between batman and catwoman or whatever). instead you get New Relatable Millennial Queer Partner that you have to fight tooth and nail to give a fuck about. nobody’s doing it like rictor and shatterstar anymore nobody’s doing coming out reveals that hit like that
Please explain your answer!
*"Normal" in this context can mean a variety of things, from being somewhat normal about women and minorities, to being capable of basic reading comprehension, to not harassing comic creators at comic cons, to not saying a disabled comic character is magically not disabled just because they're like, rich or have powers, etc.
I omitted certain teams such as the Defenders and New Warriors because after a certain point these communities get so small it's really not worth adding them because of course they will comparatively look more normal compared to a community as large as Spider-Man fans. "Why is Alpha Flight here then?" for fun.
I also omitted certain characters who, while having their own subfandoms within those subfandoms that could justify giving them their own list (Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Jean Grey, Ororo Munroe, etc), are also absolutely under the umbrella of a larger one. I'm aware there are different sects in all of these communities, this is mostly just for funsies.
Maybe Olivia Rodrigo was right. Maybe I should quit my job and start a new life.
What’s ur opinion on Silver Fox?
It bothers me that literally the only point to her creation was just for her to get raped and murdered by Sabretooth so that Wolverine would have yet another dead woman of colour to angst over.
It's rainy and cold and I really don't wanna go to the Remembrance Day ceremony today tbh...
shoutout to my online lesbian friends <3
You ever think about how the majority of the MCU has gained such a poor reputation (understandably) means that the select few gems lurking within it get under-appreciated? Kinda makes me sad.
Anyway I've been itching to watch the BP moves again tbh. Might download them later.
do not forget about reservations.
do not forget about the people on reservations.
when you are making and reading posts about dire predictions for quality of life, do not forget about reservations.
we already have issues accessing clean water. we already experience devastation from climate change. we are already going missing for our race. we are already being murdered for our culture.
it will only get worse.
it’s possible to live through. every single person indigenous to north america has a chance to live through this. i’m not trying to fear monger; i’m trying to remind you.
please do not forget about us when you assure people that “everything will be okay; people are living under far worse circumstances in other countries”.
people are living under far worse circumstances here. and it can get worse. and it will get worse. and we need you to remember that we’re here when it happens.
"Are you ok?" I'm actually tired bro. From the bottom of my heart I'm tired
I know most of tumblr is thinking about the USA right now. but fuck the nz government right now too. tomorrow, the treaty principles bill, the 'worst, most comprehensive breach of Te Tiriti in modern times' is being introduced to parliament early, because there were activations planned country wide and the cowards decided to pull it forwards. fuck this government. a friend of mine had to go home early, crying. I've been in shock all day since it came out.
check on your Māori friends, e hoa mā. see what they need. see how you can help. everyday, we see and experience racism. from people around us, up to our government. community care will save us.
I hope all the "I'm moving to Canada" USAmericans know that Canada is also just a scam.
Like I'm not saying don't do it, fuck if you want and can live here, come live here. But don't pretend you're moving to some utopia.
Also, we're about to have a fucked up election too, in fact, where the Conservatives are most likely gonna win and do a lot of damage.
