I love spike. They're domesticating him. He's just in giles's house, eating all his wheatabix, failing at being evil. They don't even have him chained in the bathtub anymore they just let him wander around and be a nuisance

#i do love imagining at what point they decided to unchain him and i decided it was when buffy was making a big pan of turkey enchiladas#with the leftovers from thanksgiving and needed help frying the tortillas and giles refused on account of being afraid of the hot oil#and buffy said fine. spike will do it. and spike said what. and buffy said shut up here are the tongs take it out when i tell you to.#and spike said you know i'm flammable right. and buffy said youre about to find out just HOW flammable buddy. and pass the cilantro.#giles takes that moment to wisely leave the kitchen and find himself a drink. i do fully believe that while spike, especially post-soul and post-buffy and all that, has come on board with like, human rights in general and that while he remains Kind Of An Asshole he's not and hasn't been particularly a bigoted person, he doesnt really understand animal rights. he likes some animals and doesn't especially want to see them suffer and will even try to prevent their suffering. but his attitude towards even beloved pets is always like. who cares if they die you can always buy a new one. like it's an animal. there's a million more like it. it can't even talk. why are we wasting money feeding it
