Alyson Stoner is celebrating every body size and shape — and she wants you to do the same.
The actor and musician recently opened up about dealing with depression, anxiety, and an eating disorder in an emotional and powerful Instagram post. On Saturday, November 24, Alyson shared a picture of herself in a cream-colored dress, writing in the caption that she almost didn’t post the photo because of hurtful comments calling her “flat-chested” and a “little boy.”
“It’s not news that wardrobe, angles, and natural shifts in weight can transform appearance instantly,” Alyson wrote. “But still so many people cling to representing and defending one status quo. My womanhood and my worth haven’t changed, yet I’m immediately treated differently according to what I wear and how I compare.”
Alyson’s post went on to note that “the magic begins when you start accepting yourself in every phase,” explaining the power behind “letting an appreciation for the magnificence of your body guide decisions in self-care.” The 25-year-old said that such a mindset has helped her through “EDs, depression, and anxiety,” and she’s now able to reflect upon this photo of herself with “hard-earned confidence and ease.”
Her powerful message ended with a reminder to her fans. “Ultimately, it’s your loss if you live in a one-size-fits-all world,” Alyson wrote, asking her followers to comment with something they love about themselves.
