Dylan O’Brien finished the Maze Runner trilogy and the show Teen Wolf in 2017 — but it turns out he might not be veering so far from both projects for his next endeavor.
Though in Teen Wolf Dylan played a human in a show about a werewolf falling in love and struggling to grow up, now he might get to be a human fighting off a world of monsters to fall in love himself. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dylan is in final negotiations to star in a new movie called Monster Problems. Like Maze Runner, the project will be a post-apocalyptic story, but in Monster Problems, a man survives a monster apocalypse in order to be with the woman of his dreams.
The movie doesn’t just have Maze Runner vibes. If you loved the John Hughes references in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, then you’re in luck. As THR noted, the project is teased as a cross between Zombieland and a John Hughes movie. There's no word yet on who will be playing Dylan’s love interest.
Though we're likely a couple years out from seeing Monster Problems on the big screen, luckily, the actor has been working on other roles. He is also playing Fred in The Education of Fredrick Fitzell where he travels the past, present, and future to solve a mystery. Maika Monroe, who was in Independence Day: Resurgence, is his co-star in the thriller. According to IMDb, the movie is currently filming.
