Disney is fueling our childhood fantasies with a slew of live-action reboots of the most classic hits. We’ve already been blessed with the magic of Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book and Christopher Robin, and soon, live-action versions of Aladdin, Dumbo, and Mulan will also be making their ways to the big screen. But the film getting a ton of buzz lately is undoubtedly Disney’s The Lion King. Yes, Simba is about to be crowned once more.
On Thursday, November 22, Disney released the long-anticipated trailer for their remake of the 1994 cartoon. And in just 24 hours, the trailer broke some serious records for preview viewings. According to Entertainment Weekly, the trailer received 224.6 million views in one day, making it the second most-watched trailer in history by any studio or company in one day. The only film that tops The Lion King in this record is another Disney one; Avengers: Infinity War received 238 million views in its first 24 hours.
