Glow in the Storm - Chapter 8: “An Eighth Grader Thing.”

Preview:

"School starts tomorrow," Henry remarked to Sheila and Melvin in the treehouse. "Are we excited?" Neither sibling was excited. Henry, in typical Henry-like fashion, just had to give an uplifting speech. "C'mon, guys. Things can actually look up, you never know, maybe something will surprise you in a pleasant way!"

"They're all terrible," Sheila remarked dryly. "Sometimes I want to blast them in the face."

"Blast them?" Henry chuckled at this. "With what?"

"I want them to explode under my glare," Sheila deadpanned.

"Amen to that," Melvin agreed.

"You should be more like the twins," Henry advised, watching the twins run around in circles. "They're happy over anything."

"That's because they're three," Melvin argued. "Finding a rock on the ground would make them damn happy."

He felt relieved as she leaned closer to him, warming up to him, as her lips gently tugged against his. Henry's thoughts were no longer filled with worry. His eyes closed in bliss as he kissed her back. She looked good. She always looked good. He imagined her pretty - no, her beautiful face, that same face that would light up the entire room. She grabbed the attention of everyone around her, she absolutely rocked at everything she did. She was amazing, and Henry was convinced he was in love.

However, Henry's moment of peace was shattered with one question.

"How come I never met your parents?"

"Happy birthday to me..." Sheila sang to herself with a little smile. "Happy birthday to me... Oh my god, Lizzie, get off of me!" She began to laugh as the family cat began to climb all over her while butting her head against hers. "Yes, thank you. It feels good to turn twelve. Yes, it does feel different. It's not like when Henry turned sixteen turned back in March though. I can't wait to turn sixteen. Felicity said that it's really important when a girl turns sixteen."

"Ugh do you have to talk to the cat? You sound like a crazy person," said Henry.

Sheila pretended not to be amused. "Hey, it's my birthday, let me be crazy and talk to Lizzie."

Henry smiled. He could let her be crazy on her birthday. "Fine. You're just going to have to come inside some time. Sitting out here and watching Mr. Carmichael put up the tree house isn't going to make him go faster."

"We can if we glare hard enough," said Sheila.

"No way... you guys aren't seriously okay with this!" Sheila exclaimed furiously. Wen and Wes looked on with confusion.

Henry frowned deeply. "What?! When did I say that?! This isn't okay at all!" Melvin looked resigned at the revelation. "We're going to talk to mom when she gets home-"

"If she gets home-"

"She will get home," Henry insisted to Sheila. "She never goes out for long anyway."

"Oh yeah, like the time mom and dad disappeared for three days on end because they were on a bender?" Sheila questioned darkly. "And then she came home with a new bruise on her left eye-"

"You know, I don't appreciate you talking like this, especially in front of the twins-"

"Why?" Sheila went on angrily, briefly glancing at the baffled twins. "I think Wes and Wen should know how our parents are lousy, terrible, screw-ups-"

"Can you stop?!" Melvin retorted.

"What the heck are you doing out of class?" Melvin squawked.

Sheila didn't say anything for a second, before smirking at him. "I can ask you the same thing."

"No you can't, you know why I'm out here. I'm out here because you're out here with your bag, and I want to know why you're out here, which made me come out here to make sure you're not to get back in-"

"Shut up you're making my brain hurt," Sheila snapped. She noticed her hand began to shake again and did her best to control it. "I got kicked out. Now can you please..."

"Wait what?" Melvin interrupted. "How did you get kicked out?" Sheila didn't say anything. Realization dawned on Melvin's face. "What did you do?!"

"Shelly."

"What?" Sheila said sharply, annoyed that her thoughts her interrupted. She saw that it was her move, and her face fell upon realizing another pawn had been taken from her. "Oh..." She made a hasty move. "Sorry."

"What's your damage?" asked Melvin, looking a bit hesitant. "I mean, you're not focused at all today, you just walked in late and..." He paused, looking really hesitant to say this: "You smelled like alcohol, Shelly."

Sheila's head immediately snapped up to his level. "What the hell are you talking about?" Her heart began to race a bit. "What are you trying to say?"

"You know what I'm trying to say," Melvin pressed, looking over to see that their mother wasn't really listening. In a whisper, "You were drinking today weren't you? God, you're not even twelve yet, I—"

Her heart slowed down. "Wait, what?" She said, and she actually felt a chuckle escape. "That's what you think? No, I wasn't drinking. I wouldn't touch that. I've seen what it's done to dad."

I refuse to believe that Hego is stupid. Naïve? Yeah. Stupid? Absolutely not.

My envision for Hego is that pre-comet (before he was 21) he had been raising his siblings and was actually very clever in how he raised them. There had to be some level of intelligence when it came to their well-beings, and I think Hego would excel in that role exponentially. Nothing would ever get past Hego, Pre-comet. That man has grown so well into the role of being his siblings’ primary caretaker that he could very well do it in his sleep.

However Post-Comet was when Hego began to falter. I’ve always liked the idea that Hego would watch his siblings’ like a hawk, but over the years it was through rose-tinted glasses; especially when Shego was about to leave and Mego growing more arrogant. I think Hego knew what was going on, but because his siblings are getting older and basically adults he really couldn’t have a say in their decisions anymore, and that hurts Hego because making decisions for his younger siblings is all he’s ever known.

Is so weird that people are voting Shego as the most evil when Monkey fist is right there

He was bat shit insane insane, he tried to kill a baby something no other villain displayed, even the Lowardians had comedic moments with them teasing Shego about Drakken.

Why are people voting for Shego?

I honestly think it's because people who lurk Tumblr for KP haven't really seen the show in full, and only know Shego as 'evil hot goth baddie' which I solely blame tiktok for.

Can't agree with how this list turned out. I've always thought that Monkey Fist was the most evil. Shego is just the most prone to violence, but she has moments of kindness in the series. Monkey Fist was absolutely out-of-pocket and batshit insane.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Their mother hissed at Sheila on a Sunday. The family was dressed in their nicer clothes than usual. Their father was out working, so it was only the six of them. Sheila stared at the floor, not even daring to look at her older brothers, who looked just as angry as their mother. "What you did was a crime, Sheila!" The twins were sitting in the living room pushing a small ball back and forth, completely oblivious to what was going on.

"You know my reasons for doing what I did!" Sheila snapped. "Someone had to!"

"Sheila," Melvin said sharply. He didn't use his nickname for her. That alone proved how pissed he was. "Do you realize how much trouble we can get into?!"

"If you hadn't said anything then we would've been fine!" retorted Sheila, her eyes flaring madly. "Think of how great it would've been!"

"Great?!" Henry scoffed, running a distressed hand through his hair. "No, this is not great. This is wrong. This is a new low, even for you, Sheila..."

In retrospect, it’s absolutely hilarious that in Kim Possible, magic is real but ONLY when it comes to monkeys. Like 95% of the villains on the show use some variation of mad science, and then there’s Monkey Fist who’s doing straight up simian sorcery.

Henry waved it off. "I'm fine." He collapsed on the bed in relief. He looked over at the two. "What's up with you guys?"

"Thinking," Sheila said. Thinking about the fact that with even two of her parents working - though their jobs were below minimum wage - they were barely getting by. Thinking about the fact that their father was a piece of shit scumbag that she was waiting to drink himself to death. Thinking about the fact that her mother barely had time for her children. Sheila knew her mother wasn't telling the complete truth. It just wasn't about the money, it's the fact that she loved her husband to the point where she didn't care about her children's safety. Sheila didn't want that lifestyle for the twins.

"I don't know about you guys, but I want to get out of here as soon as possible," said Sheila.

"Where would you go?" Melvin asked.

"I don't know, somewhere!" Sheila exclaimed frustratedly. "Jesus, guys! We have to do something."

Glow in the Storm (Rewrite) - Prologue

"If it isn't my least favorite people."

Those words Shego had spat in disgust at her brothers and at Kim Possible still haunt her to this day. The latter was certainly true – at the time, at least – but for her brothers, it wasn't true at all. She wanted to hurt them, she… she figured that distancing herself from them would do them good, as well as herself – but she was always left wondering whether or not they were okay. Drakken knew damn well that she had purposely lost the battle to take away her and her brothers' powers.
