Taylor Mali --> Declarative sentences. If you liked the other video I posted about teachers. Watch this one!
Today, I had to switch classrooms. I was really sad at first because I had really started to make connections with my students. I also really enjoyed learning from my teacher because she was a first year teacher. That is going to be me in a couple of years! But it ended up being a good experience because my new teacher was a 5th grade teacher with 20 years of teaching experience. And altho I didn't fully agree with her teaching style, she did have good insight. She gave me a lot of background on the school and students. Her teaching style is more independent learning vs. group work. I personally enjoy working in groups and collaborating, which is what my first classroom did. However, I did make some new connections with students. I got to work with them on math. HELLO DIVISION AND FRACTIONS. I haven't done that since high school it feels like... So it took me awhile and it was hard to explain... Why do you even have to reduce fractions? I just do it because i have too.. but I want the students to know why they are being forced to reduce 2/4 to 1/2. Anyways I think I helped some of them but it is still confusing.
So tommorrow I am not sure what classroom I will be in. . . I am kind of hoping to go back to my first one just because I feel like I have made more of an impact there. OH and the "trouble maker" from my first class, the one who never listens or focuses, I asked him today if me missed me. Of course, he said no but then proceeded to ask me why I left and if I was coming back. ;) Later, I found out he said to another teacher that he missed me because I always help him do things. So I am making a difference for these kids, which is the best part of all.
The picture is a few of the people I am traveling with. This trip would not be complete without the people I am here with. Their insight and experiences are great to hear about and compare with. More to come soon. :)
